We just heard the same thing. I've looked all over the internet for any further info. Can't find anything. But we also heard that, despite the merger not going through, many of the restaurants are still going to be changed to Denny's.....and that they WON'T take the J loyalty points...

A driver called in on XM trucking channel. He was at a pilot and the Pilot regional sales rep was there. He said Pilot has all the signs ready but the federal government is holding the merger from going forward. I've heard that if the merger goes forward that would give pilot a 20% market in diesel sales.

As a Flying J manager for years, we were taught that the drivers come first, a home away from home. If you noticed the free drivers cup is gone, pricing on scales, showers, faxing, laundry has all gone up and will continue to do so. Pilot has lied since the take over was conceived, they told Flying J employees that their jobs were safe. Almost 85% of Flying J managers have been left go for no reason except that they were told " your services are no longer needed", piss poor way to do business. Pilot wants your money and then you out of the store, they believe that drivers rob them blind. Well all I can say is thes drivers are the back bone of this great country and I respect the sacrifices they make. God Bless you all!!!

One of the things I've noticed at FJ's lately, is the lack of maintenance. Garbage cans are overflowing, floors are dirty, window wash buckets at the fuel islands are not filled, squeeges are worn out, air hoses are broken, showers are often not cleaned between midnight and 6am due to lack of labor available.
And it seems the labor that is there, is less and less available to assist the customers.
too bad. they use to be much better.

Pilot is pathetic but they know how to do business(give all the big companies fuel discounts). They are in the fuel business not the driver ameneties business thats for sure, wouldnt surprise me if they get rid of showers someday. thats the only thing they have that upgrades em from gas station to truck stop

Do you remember when the discounts started and when they started buying up all the big lease companies? Think back because now that the take over is complete you'll see them start to disappear.

The Flying J's used to have at least 2 sometimes 3 maintenance people per shift, now its one except on certain days. If you see more than one it means big shots from Pilot are coming. The store I worked in had 12 maintenance people now it has 4

It will give Pilot a 40% of the market, wouldn't want to have to deal with them then.

I have not fueld at a Flying J since the take over. The fuel used to be a little cheaper than Pilot or TA/Petro & could always grab food(Pizza) to go pretty quickly. Both of those are now gone & it makes me search out the Mom & Pop places more than ever before.

Kind of wish Hess would expand outside of the southeast. The fuel has a higher cetane rating, virtually no water comes out of the separator & Dunkin Donuts coffee. :)
