SIDE KITS ARE NOT FOR FAT PEOPLE!...LOL
It was not too bad. I will get better at it as I get into a routine.
On the way down to unload I called my fleet manager to find out if they were going to have another load for me. He called me back and said I was not loading until 1000 at Worthington Steel so I could just go home as it was right on the way...0 out of route miles. Got the delivery changed to 0700 and then load at 10 going to Flemingsburg Ky.
I also with the help of Sewerman found out what the problem was with my inverter.
They sent it back and said it was good. The solenoid valve Maverick installed was bad. So once I replace it, I will be back in the Modern age!MtDewMan Thanks this. -
Hey Jim, are you here in NLR? I'm currently here for orientation
-
No, I just started a dedicated gig running steel for Worthington Steel up here in Ohio. I think it will be a long time before I get back to little rock.
Best of Luck to you! -
Thanks, hopefully I make it to job offers and when the time comes I too can get a dedicated route in Ohio. I live in Dayton..... O-H!!!!

Welcome to Maverick Steeler Fan!
Cheeseburger it was nice to put a face with a name when we were loading in Bennettsville, SC. After I left there, I bounced up to Laurinburg and thought my truck was just going in for a service, but it had to have a new turbo put on it, new windshield (because when I picked it up in Gary, it had a crack in it), all filters and fluids changed. They also had to do a PM on my trailer. They pulled it out of the shop at 0130 and told me to get some sleep until 0600 and the morning crew was going to wake me up and pull it back in the shop, to finish it. It was my first time to Laurinburg and everyone was eager to help with any questions I had. Another rookie mistake, after I crossed the railroad tracks, I didn't turn left and kept going to the front gate, thinking there was another way in from the front (man was that a mistake). I finally backed it back out on the road and went in where I should have the first time. Lessons learned again!
On the other hand, have any of you guys heard that the Specialized Division is getting sold to US Xpress? Reason I asked is one of the drivers in Laurinburg said US Xpress was fixing to buy it from Maverick and the specialized group was going to be working for them (USX). However, I did see a driver bring in flatbed trailers to offload at their yard this morning. The specialized guys may be switching to pulling flats. I don't know how true, the statement he said was, that's why I asked. Hope everyone has a great rest of the week! Be safe! -
sounds like they put you through the ringer in Laurenburg, I avoid that terminal like the plague. and, the USX stuff sounds like channel 19 proof BS... I wouldn't worry much about it.

Hey if your in the south east regional will you have to run newyork? I live in middle TN and am waiting on my app.
-
I live in Cookeville, TN and I haven't been to New York yet, but I have only been on my own for two weeks; so I am sure I will have to go to Oswego and Buffalo NY at some point. As far as New York City, I'm not sure. As far as I know we don't deliver there, but the guys that have been here longer than I have can clarify you on that one. Is this your first week on your own?

Well yesterday at Butler IN was my first and hopefully my last for a long time having to use a lumber tarp on a coil. I lacked 6 inches on both sides of the vinyl having it to work on the coil. I didn't think to use the excess and wrap it around the sides; so being the rookie that I am, I pulled it off, folded it and pulled out the good ole lumber tarp. My tarp job doesn't look to bad. I'm two miles from Mill Steel in Birmingham and it hasn't blown off yet lol. They're enough bungees on it to make sure it doesn't go anywhere.
Hey I don't know if any of you guys are trainers, but I thought of a good idea today and passed it on to my FM. Since they're drivers on the month, why couldn't there be a Driver Trainer of the Year... What do you all think? Have a safe rest of the week and weekend!!
