Schneider should get its stories straight. I called them a few months ago, and was told that for tuition reimbursement, they paid $500 to start, plus $100 per month up to $5000 total. Whatever deal you agree to, do your best to get it in writing. There's a big difference between getting reimbursed and not getting reimbursed.

I found about the same, $100/month, $100/9000mi or $150/month. I chose the $150 which also inluded a final payout of the remainder (up to a certain amount) at the end of 12 months.

My husband just joined Werner, they paid for his tuition at $100/mo, up to $6000.00. Over that is up to us.
He has a trainer for the next 6 weeks or so until he gets 275 hours behind the wheel drive time. Then he's on his own!
They may not be the best, but it fit us for now! After he's trained and has a year of driving experience, you never know.... -

Hello everyone let me thank you in advance for any advice you can give.
Here is my situation, I was retired, but with the down turn of the economy I find that I have to go back to work. (Thanks, Washington, Wall St. and the Banks..)
As I am 57 years old and a little out of shape, but I was thinking about trying to drive a truck, I have done many things in my life from owning restaurants to being a commercial fisherman, I also drove a medium duty truck when I was young.
Im looking at adds for driving schools but then I look at the adds for drivers, and notice almost without exception, you need X amount of years experience required. The construction industry in Costal Carolina is shot as well as building supplies, am I barking up the wrong tree or is there some other way around this?
I was going to go to a few truck stops and talk to guys but my wife told me to post it here? At times I feel a bit like a #2 pencil in a computer world.
"Thanks again" for any and all advice, and dont sugar-coat it. -
Physically you are able. But you must be able to stay awake and alert for 11-14 hours a day...

I am basically in the same boat as you US. I'm 47 and starting over. Most starter companies will hire you if you go to thier training and as long as you can pass the physical. I have talked to several recruiters from several companies and they all told me basically the same thing. Good luck!

I am officially a dislocated worker in Pa. and trying to get grant for school but I did just get a voucher for OJT. If any recruiters are looking here hint hint.
