Read a newspaper in any Metro area after a holiday, or long weekend. They set up seat belt and license/DUI checkpoints for them as well.

Yes, you are right. But everyday is not a holiday. Those are just a signal not to drink and drive. How about cracking down on speeding and tailgating. Tailgating is the #1 cause of accidents, but everybody turns their heads to this problem.

Lynchburg? You live near Jack Daniels. That's a cool little town. I toured that distillery. The town had some kind of event going on. Bands, BBQ, crafts. We had fun that day.

    Agreed on the tailgating.

Two cases of it on I-40 this week during the blizzard( :biggrin_25517: ) thursday morning.

One was RE Mitchell with a load of pipe. The other was a van load of batteries.

Yeah the BBQ is a good time. If you want to tour the area (Jack Daniels, George Dickell, Tim's Ford) come in April. Way less people that way.

It says 64 tickets for seatbelt.
Some of those I bet had the lap belt on and the shoulder strap behind the back.
I always wear mine, and correctly.
It is very easy to be thrown from a truck in an accident without it. But really in a roll over it does not do much. Since all the upper parts of a truck are fiberglass or aluminum they just crush in. No resistance at all in an accident. No roll over protection at all in a truck.
So you are held in your seat in a crushed sardine can.

You can certainly do as you please.

I have been to many accidents. There are some that the person died in the seat belt.

But many more would have lived if they had used one.

Maybe you will not be one of them. Or maybe you will just be lucky.
