I know some companies allow you to bring a pet on the truck, if so, which pet should I get that is more of a low maintenance and less odor? Dog or cat?

Personally, I'm planning on bringin' my l'il baby girl Sassy (cat) on the road with me. The thought of leaving her behind for weeks at a time makes me sad.

Do you already have a pet or is it that you plan to get one? Both will have some odor. Both will also shed. I think there are a couple of dog breeds that don't shed so much. My advice is to leave the pets at home. More and more carriers are restricting pets in their trucks. Some shippers will not allow pets on their property, whether they are in a truck or not. Carriers take on a lot of liability when there are pets in their truck. If a mechanic opens the door and gets bitten, it could be a lawsuit for the carrier. A truck is a workplace. Most workplaces don't allow pets. You will be living and working in a small work space. Some states that have anti idling laws are considering putting restrictions on idling, even when pets are in the truck. You could find it more difficult to find a position if you insist on bringing it in your assigned truck.
