Hubby is deployed to Afghanistan, got my CDL, and now am looking for work, to make a little money while he is gone, to eat up some time, that's my story, haha. Actually, trucking runs in the family, and I'm the first "woman trucker" in the family.
That being said..
CRST hired me, I start orientation 11 April. From what I've read, they seem to be a good company. I just really need to get 6 months OTR experience, so I can get something local. I put my app out, and they were the first ones to call me back.
Any advice for this company?

I am NOT going to rain on your parade, but I am wondering, where did you read they are a GOOD company.?
REDD Thanks this. -
A couple of different sites, and I've gotten that much from reading these boards. I just need My dang six months. I'm not trying to be picky, they just called me literally as soon as I applied.
Have you worked for them? Do you work for them? -
No,and no to both of your questions, however,I too read these boards, and well, hey, you know what...,I could care less what you do,I would read the boards again, but hey,Good Luck....Sincerely.

Wow, no need for the attitude!

Sure (shill) seems to me a very fishy story. I shill think that hubby overseas would shill appreciate your minding the home front, instead of deciding upon a temp job that will (shill)y involve said wifey running around the country with other men. That shill will make his days overseas much easier.
Any other tests for today? I shill(y) think that you have failed this one.
Army wives are the true unsung heroes. You Ma'am, are not.
Nice try though. Shill(y) girl. -
You don't know me, or my situation.

Well, I went to CRST Malone orientation in Oklahoma City, which was held in the classroom next to where the CRST Van Expedited people were having their orientation. Let's just say that what I caught of the Van Ex. orientation did not give me the impression that they're being set up for anything good. However, I really don't see how they'd be worse than the norm for a new driver. The Van Ex. division does team runs primarily... this can be a major downside. I'm assuming you don't have someone already working in the company who you know and trust to team up with. So, for one, you have to share space with someone.. I know those sleepers look big at first, but, trust me, they get much smaller, real quick. Second, you're probably going to be paired up with someone you don't know. Are you really going to trust them to drive while you sleep in the back of that truck, especially if they're as new as you are? CRST Van Ex. drivers go with a trainer for 28 days... while the end result is ultimately going to be dependent on the quality of that driver trainer (I really can't tell you about CRST driver trainers), 28 days is still a bit.. light.
Oh.. and what sort of local job are you expecting to get with just six months experience, by the way? -
Local job as in home every night. My dads company, I just gotta get the required six months experience, and I'm set. Worse comes to worse and I don't like CRST, I can just find employment elsewhere.
-
I know what a local job is.. I worked one for a good while. Just a bit surprised they would only require six months experience.
