There's plenty more guys out there that are happy with their gigs. Just wish more would post about them.
Good for you! -
I just love the detail. A guy that hates his company will have a title like "BFI lies to drivers!" and they'll go on to talk about how they got fired for something stupid, or because of misunderstandings they quit. But when someone is happy, it's just "9 months in, I'm happy". Tell a story, like my dispatcher Troy is awesome! He totally understands me and tries to work with me. The miles have been good and when there is down time he lets me know what is causing the problem, and what we're doing to solve them.
I'm just sayin' that might be more helpful for someone who is looking for a new job or trying to compare companies. As for me, I'm cool with "I'm happy" -
I'm kinda happy......................

baddogg do you run regional of otr out of lakeland and hows that terminal btw glad to hear u r happy

9 months and fired!!!! Ran Florida regional fleet. Which is Southeast, Northeast and Midwest. Don't be deceived by "Florida regional". Was guaranteed home 3 weekends a month by recruiter. Stayed out 2-3 weeks always. Never home ontime, always 3-4 days past target date when hometime request wasn't totally ignored. Missed my girlfriends college graduation after giving marten a months notice. Most all of martens dispatchers are young kids fresh out of college who have never seen the inside of a truck. The straw that broke the camels back was when my a/c went out. Fun times indeed...After 3 weeks of begging to be sent by a terminal and have it repaired, and road services refusal to let me have it looked at on the road, I had all I could take.
I stayed as busy as I wanted to with this company. Plenty of freight, as they always overbook their trucks. Most loads your assigned to are already late before you are dispatched on them. Brought home decent pay too. Despite the fact that marten holds $.03 of your pay. Don't ask me why, maybe its to pay randy's yacht payment?? But, Ive always made good money everywhere I've worked.
Let me just say I wouldn't give marten a good recommend. If your a current marten driver - God bless you man... if your considering marten as a prospective employer - BEWARE!!!skibum_63 Thanks this. -
I always find it funny that people think that a dispatcher that was a former driver is going to do so much better. Getting you home is not a function of having been a driver, it's a function of a well managed company and communication between dispatch/customer service/driver. I don't care if your dispatcher doesn't even know what a truck is, or can't figure out where FL is on a map because I'm fairly certain that you could train a monkey to dispatch trucks.
Oh and I'm still glad the OP is happy.
