No worries....you are asking good questions. We all asked those at one time too and many more. So never ever be afraid to ask.

We are just telling you the "truth". It's all about the miles you get and what you do with them. Run hard and safe - you'll do very well here.

I fully agree with Dave ..

You are a "Company Driver "

You are Working for - " The Company"

Take the challenge - Be careful and learn as much as you can when starting Out !
Newbies are not in the position to make the rules , but to Follow them.

As long as it is not Unreasonable , Unsafe or Breaking Laws the challenge should be taken.

Saying no to a particular run as a newb is like going to work as (Lets say you are a mason) and you are at a job and time to start laying blocks.
You tell the Boss No i dont feel like laying blocks Today ,cant we just wait till there is something else to do ! lol

Will your boss want to pay you ???

Be reasonable and try your best, be careful and obey the laws ,Take the challenge and add it to the list .
Chances are when the next good load pops up it could just be yours.

NYC isn't the worst city to drive in,there was a thread recently about which city is the worst and Pittsburg was on the top of the list.As long as you have your route planned out you should be fine in NYC. As in any city the time of day and day of week makes a big difference in traffic volume; weekends and night time traffic is not as bad as rush hours. You're going to sit a lot in bumper to bumper 7-9 and 4-6 pm,just plan your trips to avoid those hours if possible, best time to travel is 1 AM-5 AM,not a lot of commuters or commercial traffic on the road then IMO.

bdanning, you're asking the questions many are thinking which is good. Many things things we'll learn from our trainer, and others through experience. Stay open to all possibilities, and we'll do fine. See ya in 2 days.
