Today I had a miniature Christmas in my shop. Brown Santa (UPS Man) brought me my Cobra 29 LX with RFX 75 from Walcott C.B. Shop. I already had the antennas and coax installed (4' Firestik FS hood/fender mounted with dual 18' Firering coax) and after I built a bracket for my Dodge 3/4 ton to mount this big radio (had a Cobra 19 in it before) I mounted it right in front of the middle seat. A few minutes on the sanding wheel / wire brush and spray paint can saved me about 25-30 dollars worth of mounting bracket, and it was how I wanted it. Got the new radio bolted in and a few more minutes running wires and shrink tubing the connections and I'm really happy with all the service I've gotten from Walcott. My only concern is that how everyone talks about how you'll want to run a larger 12v wiring to the radio with the RFX 75 on it. I only got the stock Cobra harness. My end of the wiring job I ran 12 gauge wire to my aux fuse block with a 10A fuse and 12 gauge to ground. But I connected it to the tiny ### stock cobra wires, 18 or 20 gauge I am guestimating? I'd like to find a plug in to the Cobra back that's more like 12 or 14 guage to put on, I left a little extra wiring to do this in the future, but today I wanted to play with my new radio. Worked good around the yard talking to the Cobra 29 LX LE that is in our KW. The new 29 LX has a few more features I think than the LX LE model did. I really like this radio and am real happy with all that Walcott has done for me. I'm just wondering about the wiring potential issue, and can't wait to check my new radio out on the highway.
looking for a lil help

Dont be to surprised if you dont get many come backs, the RFX is really loud
and will offend more of the majority then you might expect.
Run it about 1/4 off bottom,12:00 position is pretty full crank(done right it should be right at 100-113-14 watts)
Enjoy it,its a real audio hammer if you use it correctly -
Which knob is this that you speak of that I run in this position? Tomorrow I want to get my Dad to set in my pickup and talk, I'll set in the KW and listen and tune the radio accordingly.

How could a RF amp make your audio loud

Sorry to disappoint you and your pound puppies but Sparky does
alot more then just slap on the RFX and call it a day.
