I usually stock up at home and wash everything before hitting the road.
Bottled water and paper towels if i buy something while on the road.
Oranges are good...just peel and eat...you know it is clean.
I buy a bunch of apples, oranges, grapes and peaches.Good road snacks.
Actually have lost a few pounds since going back OTR...
Installed a new inverter and microwave a couple weeks ago.I did not spend a dime last week eating at truck stops or fast food.

I watched a thing on the news a few months ago about produce and all the nasty hands that touch it even at the grocery store.....just gross!

Good for you for eating healthy on the road.We all should do more of it and live longer....

So, if'n you're putting your fresh fruits and vegetables elsewhere, you don't need to wash them? :biggrin_25521:

Wait. ......nevermind. I don't wanna know anything about vegetable abuse.

I usually get fruit in a jar like peaches or oranges. They are a buck for a decent size jar at the Weis store near my house. They don't have to be refridgerated until opened and taste great. That and bananna's are about all I can stomach though.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions. It looks like you will see me washing in the grocery parking lot as I use soap and water on everything. I never thought of a Ziploc bag for things like strawberries/blueberries/grapes etc. but that would work great on the road then rinse using a colander. I may try the shower thing too for apples and the like.

P.S. to Wicked Wizard = those little fruit cups or canned are handy but you are missing the live enzymes if your fresh foods are pasteurized. Most people out there have too many ‘bad’ bugs in their system and not enough ‘good’ you can only get with fresh or frozen.

I keep 10 gallons of water in my truck, 2 2.5 under the bunk, and 2 2.5 in the tv hole on a volvo with a bungie. It doesnt move around, when I get down to 5 gall, I stop at walmart and buy two new ones.
