I would never buy a salvage or rebuilt title on anything, also if you went to sell it ever a lot of banks would not finance it, but thanks anyway.

CARFAX is a joke , checked the VIN on 1 of my cars ( corvette ) , saw it come off the transporter at the dealership, it has been in storage for years.
CARFAX shows it being owned by 4 different people as recently as last year, check at DMV shows only ME.

I just sold my fld a 99 for 15,000.Had some bulk at the price for the old truck but when buying a truck you should look for a paper trail.my trk had 600,000 on engine.it was not overhauled but replaced.I have replaced everything but the frame with many parts under warrenty.I have had many mechanics tell me the cummins n14 redtop is the best engine.cummins isx are blowing up.mechanic has seen 3 cracked blocks in the last month.A cummins engineer I met in seymour In told me that cummins knew the isx was poorly designed.Ive heard drivers say the detroits are holding their own.good luck on your hunt

Try to stick to a fleet truck. Maintance is usually well taken care of, but be careful of WHAT fleet it came from. it has been my experience that PENSKE fleet trucks are the best on the market. I have seen many with under 400k miles that were under $40k. I have owned 2 of these trucks and both were amazing. Neither required any MAJOR maintance for the 7yrs i onwed them besides brakes/tires and a few little things here n there.
For cheap and easy repair, stick to a freightliner with a detroit. Not only are parts cheap, but the MPG will be the best you can prob get. Stay away from anyhting built after 2007 due to emissions equipment and mechanical problems.
lastly, best of luck in your search and hope it all works out well for you.Country Boy 615 Thanks this. -
Well it seems like I hear Freightliner the most here & really not surprised, I guess that is why many companies use them. Might be hard finding one in really good shape from a fleet unless the driver was older & took care of the truck. I sure don't want one that has had many drivers, the younger guys get upset & take it out on the trucks sometimes before they move on. Keep this going I am sure that I'm not the only one that's in search & it's good to learn from the ones with experience because you know.

I just sold my truck that wasnt a fleet truck.I purchased it from the original owner who had a paper trail.I being the second owner gave the third owner the trucks history.Fleet trucks may have rookies in there who can be rough on clutches and transmissions

I bought a Werner W900L flet truck last year and have since put on 130K miles and the only thing I have had to do to it was replace the fan hub and yesterday a coolant hose!! I am very happy with the performance of this truck. Best of all it had a brand new paint job on it (so not weiner blue) and 419K miles for under 40 grand!! I would definately buy another when the time comes...
