Watch out for City Lights Brokerage AKA Skyway Truckline. We did a load for them from Kent, wa to Elizabeth, NJ for 5600.00. They were supposed to Fed Ex us a check on 3-8-11 which they did not. "Unauthorized Re-Brokering of Shipment" Both companies have been reported to IT,TIA and FBI. Google owners name "Tyrell Bramwell". We are a small business and rip offs like this are devastating. These two companies are bad news.
Do not load for City Loads Brokerage AKA Skyway Truckline

Thanks for the heads-up. Many a small business would have a rough time taking a punch like that!

Our company Left Coast is trying to track down the REAL carrier that hauled a load of nursery product from Woodburn, OR to Centreville, MD. This load would have shipped on 03/04/11. We are the REAL brokerage company that was suppose to have paid "Skyway Truckline" for the load. We realize that Skyway Truckline is NOT the correct carrier. If you are the real carrier of this load please contact our office at 503-928-8195 and ask for Robert Bissell.
Do NOT book any loads with this company. They took fuel advance from our company and ran. We received paperwork but have no information on the real carrier. Please call us. We need to talk to the honest person who hauled this load for us.
Thank you! -
I ran in to these scammers as a shipper. Fortunately it has been caught quick enough so minimal $$ lost for all.

12/28/10 - The day they got their MC#
I'm sorry about what happened, but dang... you can't do business with someone that is that new. If we work with someone like that, we make arrangements for half on pick up and half WHILE we are delivering.
That really sucks. -
Rebecca- The best would be to call the shipper and hope they have the truck information. You should be able to track down the truck with a name and state (which can be found on the B.O.L.) using Safersys.org
Skyway did scratch out the original truck name and type theirs in. Luckily the driver called me as the shipper asking for help. He sent me his copy of the Bills that matched what he received at shipping point. -
I hope you do a report on them th the 3 BBB's city, state and US. Also tell OOIDA about them and do a Ripoff report.
Now before you ever use a broker you can and all GOOD brokers will give you and either fax or email some important information to you and you should also check their credit rating and insurance information. A copy of their business license from where they work out of before you sign any papers. You DID sign a few contract papers correct?
Always get their brokers license number or if they are a broker agent. If they say AGENT then you need to find out who they go through for the broker. I know you know that the broker IS the one with the money not the agent. That broker information will be what tells you if they are legit or a ripoff like these guys are!
I hope you put the names out in areas that work. Here is good but you need to go even further so no one else gets burnt like you did!
The OOIDA hint is not only for owners! They have a great blacklist of brokers and people to stay away from and if you join them you can get this list AND a list of owners who would be thrilled to do business with you hauling your freight! You just might find that working directly with an owner can be easier than some brokers. -
We are doing EVERYTHING we can to get this company caught. I really appreciate all your feedback. This is an unfortunate event that I pray to God wont happen to any other carrier, broker, shipper or consignee. We booked the load with who we thought the carrier was (Skyway Truck Line) we offered fuel like we do with any carrier because of this ruff economic time. Unfortunately when we booked the load with Skyway a month ago, there was nothing on google or safer system. As a general rule of thumb: MAKE SURE the phone number matches on the Safer Systems, Check References, and if the carrier is NEW (meaning within 1 yr) have the shipper and only the shipper take the drivers info. This is the only way to be sure you are dealing with an honest carrier. Obviously our company has changed how we research companies, we are also getting copies of the drivers license number as well as other things like get the cell number from the shipper. I think after doing this so long you just start to trust people you work with because there are alot of good people in this industry. There are also alot of bad one too, so lesson learned. I hope no one else has to learn the hard way like we did.
BEWARE, City Light Brokerage is STILL posting loads on Transcore 360. Unfortunately when we called Transcore to enlighted them about the scam they completely ignored us and said there isn't much they can do, what a joke! PLEASE tell EVERYONE you know in this industry not to use this company! I don't want anyone to suffer the losses that we have or the carrier has. Also if the carrier is out there that did our load please contact us. We have already contacted both the shipper and the consignee and neither one has a drivers cell number or company name. We are doing everything we can to find them. We would like to make things right and pay the honest guy or gal for the work they did.Gears Thanks this. -
I had an owner operator call me last week about a load they hauled and were not paid for. They hauled it for a broker called "City Lights" I was confused until I put google to work....I originally booked the load with Skyway Trucklines....Anyone who may have anymore information on contacting City Lights or Skyway Trucklines please email Loading4u@live.com
