Man against Nature! That's why they require chains on CMV.

I guess he was exploring an option that didn't require them, LOL.....

Definitely frustrating when you get stuck that way. Been there, done that, albeit without the theatrics. I backed over a grassy spot, years ago, trying to get out of a parking lot. Unbeknownst to me, under that grass was a drain and the soil was soaked. My drives hit it and that was all she wrote. Ended up having to get a hook to move me about three feet. What a dumb-###.

Only in select states are chains required in CMV.

That guy was stuck hard enough it was going to take more than that pickup to get him out, but you'd be amazed at how little force it can take to unstick a big truck! I've pushed (yes, me, by hand) bobtails out of ice 'pans' more than once, and once even an empty tanker combo! It was always in a situation where the truck would rock, but needed that extra couple hundred pounds of force to get it to pop out of the 'pans.' I had the advantage of a dike wall when I did the combo, but it was still funny! And it's really not all that hard, it's more a matter of timing than strength; I probably only weighed 175 at the time, and I wasn't a gym rat or anything.

I think if I saw a guy going off like that I would be scared to approach him if I didn't know him. LOL
