I got Skype working over 3G.

The instructions on how to install it are good on that page, but the version of Skype that they link to is old, obsolete, and does not work.
The version of Skype linked to on this page does work.

There is no video feature as far as I can tell, it's just a VOIP app. It's also quite large, taking up 13 megabytes of your phone's internal memory, and it can't be moved to the sd card. But then the same can be said about the Yahoo messenger App. The Yahoo messenger would have been useful to me a year ago, but now everyone I know uses Facebook chat.
Skype ?

Im with Verizon. But if Skype doesnt work I will stick with Yahoo messenger who works (for me) just great.
I do not have Facebook account anyway.
Thanx for the links....I'll play with it to see the results. -
The new version of Skype was released 2 days ago, it supports calls over 3G. No need to run the hacked version anymore.
The_Judge Thanks this. -
Does the new version allow me to use the camera from my Droid ?
-
The one in the market will not do video. So far, Yahoo is the way to go for video chat on the phone.
-
That's true. The phone version of Skype doesn't do video, you need a the PC version to do that. It's just voice calls.The_Judge Thanks this. -
