They are barely doing anything at the moment. I heard the Cleveland yard had NO decked loads yesterday afternoon and only a handful of trucks pre positioned for decking this morning.
JHT Holdings is hoping to get permission to let the Mexicana Logistics drivers deliver all of the way to their final destinations in America and Canada. My impression is that the vast majority can't speak or read English.
While the shills are pushing for decertification of union representation the rest of us are moving toward acting on our own, with or without the union backing us up. The IAM basically sold us out but converting to a non union shop isn't the way to go. -
Have heard a couple of recent reports of Unimark drivers (1099 employees) showing up at consignee locations with decked sets and not having been trained to undeck and/or process the units. In each case ATT drivers were on hand and offered to help the hapless Unimark 'employees'.....

I was at the San Antonio 'terminal' (dirt hole) recently and the shill activity piqued my interest. Not the first time I've witnessed this phenomenon but the most obvious in months. Inside the office there were two distinct groups. One was 'all shill' and mostly quiet while observing the non shills across the room immersed in their lively and often job related debates.
Two 'unknowns' at the shill table let it be known non shills weren't welcome at their table despite the only 'open seat' in the room was there. Outside and under the tarp, another group mixed with both shills and non shills were busy debating many subjects with the shills attempting to dominate every job related subject by forcefully tendering the 'company position'. The lame attempts at intimidation of those deemed 'opposed' to the 'shill mission' were educational.
Rumors continue to swirl, as they have from the very beginning of the Laredo to San Antonio 'transition' that our move to a modern facility is imminent. This 'modern facility' has been perpetually 'under construction' and no one seems to know where it's located.
The Unimark 'revolving door' is always interesting. We're being told these guys and gals 'earn' $55 per trip from Laredo to San Antonio, two trips per day, seven days per week. This works out to about $8 per hour and they have to file their own employment taxes as they are 1099 contractors...

Is att hiring?
-
Yes, but only for the San Antonio operation. Training takes place in Cleveland, NC. A number of people have already been dismissed from training for various reasons and sent home. Keep in mind we took a 3% pay cut last year and are 7% behind where we were at the end of 2006 due to 'givebacks'. This is also the first year without a layoff since 2006.
Still, a good job with great benefits. One must qualify for a passport and entry into Canada. Otherwise, don't apply. -
Does this mean you have to be domiciled out of san antonio?
-
No, but it would be to your advantage to live close to one of ATT's terminals. I spoke to a new hire last week who is also from Mt. Holly.
Thinking ATT may be trying to 'rebuild' its previously 'diverse' workforce. The trannies have disappeared and the number of gays and blacks have dwindled in recent years. If you are black, gay, tranny or all rolled into one you will probably be placed in the 'priority hiring' category.
On the Unimark side: many military singles have been moved over to the Unimark lot in Cleveland. Thinking there must not be any real time pressure to get these delivered...Last edited: May 16, 2011

It's being reported that ATT drivers with long and clean histories are being confronted by unknown drivers with questionable 'employment stories' with ATT. The 'play' is reported to be nearly always the same.
'How did you last this long?'
'Why are you still here?'
'Don't you know you're not wanted?'
"Don't you know no one likes you?'
Two drivers in question reported at they were probably id'd and located by their GPS transmitters - so much for this 'feature being useful to the customer'. Every customer I've spoken with has no idea how to 'track their shipments'. We knew going in the GPS units would be used by the company to track the drivers, nothing else. Passing on the information to shills brings the 'game' into greater focus.
We're all laughing at these lame attempts at intimidation. ATT is meeting with mixed success in its hiring campaign by focusing on recruiting unprofessional, inexperienced and 'anti union' new hires - the results have been completely predictable.
All Freightliner plants have recently announced added shifts...should be good news to everyone. -
Can anyone give me some info on Auto Truck Transport, I just filled out an app w/them, for the San Antonio terminal. How does the pay schedule work?,what's the detention pay, break down pay, border crossing pay?Pay for decking ,undecking pay? Does it stay busy there all year long or is there a slow period with layoff? Any and all info would be very much appreciated. What is IAM, union?
