I was going across the mineral wells scales in west virginia this morning. The sun was out & I couldnt clearly tell if the light turned red just as I passed the light. There were several trucks behind me, so I stopped(being past where you turn into the parking behind the scale house) and waited for about a minute to see if the DOT guy walked out, but nobody did.

Im not 100% sure the light turned red, but it was green as I went passed over the scales, but it seemed like it might have flashed red just as it was even with my cab. I wasnt overweight, but now im kinda freaking out. Hopefully it was just the sun reflecting in the red light. Am in really big trouble if the light did flash red? I thought that the DOT bear woulda come out and pulled me over if it was important!?

If he didn't chase you down don't worry about it. If it should happen again pull over onto the shoulder, bring all your paperwork with you and go inside and explain to the scale man you made a mistake. This happen to me many years ago at the scales in Freemont Ca. I had just delivered to Sysco Foods and was merging onto the freeway that uses the same on ramp as the scales use to enter the scale house. I was putting some paperwork away and when I realized I had merged onto the freeway it was too late to get back onto the entrance ramp to the scale. I parked on the shoulder, gathered all my paperwork (log book included) and walked into the scale house. The scale man told me with a very straight face, that mistakes happen, and thanks for stopping. He asked me if I was loaded, then said to be careful coming off the shoulder. And this was in California.

It's funny you should write about this, I was going north on 95 in Georgia Tuesday when I heard all this commotion on the radio about a truck that missed the southbound scales and was backing up on the shoulder. When I went by there was about 6 cop cars around this Western Express truck and it looked like everyone of them had their ticket book out.
