Volvo d-12 good or bad?

volvo d-12 is a high rpm motor so it dont have that low end power.It'll get you threw but you will have to keep that motors always rapped up.Kinda like them old detroits. Dont buy a shaker though cause if your dealing with dirt roads and stuff like that the interior will fall to part and start shaking in no time! Macks are hella good trucks with those mack engines. Try and look for some petes or kenworths with detroit and cummins motors in them. Stay away from the old cat 435hp motors. I drove 1 for 6 months. #### truck couldnt do nothing with hills and im just talking about south texas hills! Good Luck!!!

 

Used to pull reefer with a D12 powered 670. Had it about 6 months and I have nothing good to say about it. The lack of power alone was enough to drive me nuts. Make no mistake there is nothing cheap on a Swedish boat-anchor either, when they go down it's E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E!

 

If you are looking for trucks in the 03-06 range, DON'T get the Mack Visions, at least with the AC series engines. These trucks are very unreliable, the last company I drove for had these, and for a fleet of six, the yearly repair bill was around $100,000, where as it was around 5-10 grand for a fleet of pre 03 CHs with the E7-427s. I started a thread on here a while backed called "Do all mack visions suck", you might want to look that up and see what some other drivers had to say about those POS trucks...
