I used an Eagle Spitfire 454 Handheld. They were imported by Copper Electronics as a "Ten Meter Handheld", But were marketed towards to CB'ers. These are no longer available but a newer version has hit the market recently under various names.

I HAVE A 454

Worked Costa Rica from my front yard on 28.400 USB and N.C. on 29.600 FM ..... -
I didnt know anyone even made a 10 meter walkie-talkie LOL
-
Yes they did and the FCC got them BAN from being inported BECAUSE CBers were using them .....
Sorry but what CBer would spend over $200 for a 2 watt HT ????
????

The same reason an amateur op would. Not all CB/Freebanders are power hungry and are amused by watching the meter swing to the right. Personally I enjoy DX'ing the so-called freeband QRP.Over the past few months I've made numerous contacts into Europe,Africa and the Caribbean at 10 watts or less on the CB and freeband.Bruce , you and others know as well as I do that when the upper end of the HF spectrum is open, that you can work the world with a watt or less.Back in cycle 22 the local AM crowd was complaining that they could not make contacts with there 2 transistor amplifiers and were amazed when I showed them how I could work European stations at 12 watts with a Cobra 148 into a 7 foot Firestick.

SAD we all suffer so that some buracrat can justify his job ...

Preach it! Can we just apply this to everything, not just radio? Thanks.

New here... About to get my CDL!
I am also a ham, Extra Class since 1997 (age 16).
I guess most company trucks are fitted with CB, I would be interested to put a real HF rig (TS480 or similar).
Well we shall see
