Thanks AC22 and BSD for the info, I do have my own authority and I have checked out Enermax and Deer valley as for as Cascade goes I went to Rifle CO where they require you to go to get hired on and they want way to much money to lease on your truck ie..60 bucks and hr is all they pay.

60 bucks! What a joke. No wonder they have such a good name in ND...:biggrin_25523:

Power Fuels does have jobs in Stanley and you don't have to have your hazmat to haul production or fresh water..we need more drivers in Stanley so you'd have a good chance on getting on..:yes2557:

AC22-Thanks for the enlightening information. I own my own specialty sawmill business here in the "Winter Wonderland" of Michigan. I have traveled the State in all types of weather for the last 20 years buying logs and trucking them home. Absolutely clean record, driven in white outs, major blizzards, ice, fog, mud and sand...traveled many 2 lane logging roads thru the woodlands. Business is bad here with no hope of recovery. I have a friend/customer in ND that says I am nuts not to pack up my truck and get out there. I have NT endorsements, an older truck with low mileage (120,000), no tanker...have a 42' 10' spread with bunks for logs (pipe?). I can operate most any type of heavy equipment and can fix most anything although sometimes I need to research the subject. With the money people are talking about...$100 plus per hour, I would expect more truckers lined up for jobs than fleas on my dog. In your opinion, would there be an opportunity for someone like me out there? I have been workng 120 weeks for years. The biggest problem I can see..if the work is there...is that I can't stand doing nothing. Waiting in line would drive me nuts. I would want to be doing something!

Well, I'm off! I finally passed all my tests, accumulated all my endorsements and I got my CDL in hand and I'm headed for the oil fields for the next 2 weeks. I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes (when I can get a net connection). The guy I'm working with takes 2 weeks on, 1 week off so I think I can live with that.

Please do keep us updated. That is the kind of schedule I would like to get into after finishing school in the next month or so. Provides a decent amount of home-time, and should still make enough to make it worthwhile.

    Hanserik,

Had a slight delay on the other end, the guy who has the truck is waiting on some parts and has another job for a friend, so I'll be waiting home a couple more days. The
good news is that another driver of his just booked 11 grand in two weeks and they're screaming for more trucks and drivers, so once you get in, you're good to make some money. But it's tricky getting hired with no experience. I just got lucky with a connection of my dad's, but from what I've heard they're looking for at least a year of experience.

Good luck to you too, and I'll keep posting as events warrant.

    jvar4001 Thanks this.

Yeah, the no experience thing has me a little worried as far as employment. I do have four years experience driving tractor/trailers (flatbeds & lowboys) in the Military, but that doesn't do me a bit of good.

My retirement ceremony is this Friday, and I final-out on Monday, then start three months of Terminal Leave. Hoping to find employment before my leave ends.
