    Also is it true he only had 100 watts?

    What was his setup as far as ground rods and antenna? I,ve heard he had a chain running to the gulf so he could use the water to ground ( as a ground plane) and find that hard to believe.

    Running a length of wire from your antenna to a body of water actually is a legit method. However, the Gulf is a good distance away, and it would be a bit of overkill, as well.

    I used to hear them on the east coast when the bands were open, and the Dallas Pike Buffalo CB shop out into the western states.
    I guess having to have a Passport to get back into the USA put the kaboshes to their border taxi service.
