Siped all position tires will give better traction in rain, compact snow, and ice and run cooler in the summer : lugged tires are better in deep snow and mud. I run all position and run Alaska in winter and never had a problem. I run tires on the drives for 10,000 miles or so and put them on the steer. It gets them used to running straight and flat and eliminates radial roll and cupping.

Listen, young boy. I don't care what you are believe or not. I stated my point and I'm nowhere close to even think about wondering how to convince you or anyone else to think my way. There is no "facts" in Michelin materials, all those blown up numbers are made up to make advertisements and sell on a "green" trend to greenhorns like you.
Here is something you don't seem to have understanding of - if you are after .2 mpg and think that this kinda money will spare you from failure as a O/O - you failed already. You and all those people who run cheap freight and think that the reason they are not making any money is fuel economy - are nuts. -
Not siding, just stating facts, a .2mpg gain on an avg of 3000miles a week, at 48 weeks a year (figuring u got to take some time off) is over $3200 savings in that 1 year. So basically the tires pay for themselves.
That being said, after getting my new 726's on I got a .5mpg main on the 600 mile trip home. Now granted, I went from a 197rr to a 141rr but I also chose them because they have 32/32 and the last set lasted over 5yrs and still had 8/32 when I got my Yoko's. For me, the price, reliability and longevity outweighed the other things.
As long as you are happy, then that's all that matters. And why the hell should you care what somebody else spends their money on?Kansas Thanks this. -
Ive been trucking longer than you LOL

Are you the same guy that went on a rant on Kevins site, they've been having a field day making fun of you for days by now. So now you've picked up your toys and come to this sandbox. That would explain your brand new user id on this site.
Im done with ya, you go on perma ignore.dwmac71 Thanks this. -
.2 is a nice modest gain, and its about all I would gain if I went to a different tire, as I stated earlier for me it would be a total wash money wise since my tires were purchased new around Christmas time. If I thought I could gain that .5 I would do it in a second.
.5 is an incredible gain Congrats. What are you running for steers? How is the road noise with that set, are they quieter than your previous set? -
If it's only marketing why did Michelin give several other tire manufacturers some really good #s?
http://www.americamovesbytruck.com/rollingresistance.phpSHC and lostNfound Thank this. -
Of course rolling resistance is real... "round and black" just isn't good enough anymore.SHC Thanks this.
-
HEY! You leave my girlfriend outta this LOL!
-
There is no noise that I can tell, but I got 7" pipes too. Like I said, the tires I took off were some cheap China made crap and the tread resembled a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. I have the same crap China tires for steers but they are just like the Firestone design and they required no weights when I had them balanced so I'm gonna stick with them till at least the wear odd or blow out LOL.... hopefully not the later of the two.
-
I`m gonna try some for the potential fuel savings.May hurt me in muddy log yards but I don`t think it will make much difference.Once the treads fill with mud they are all slicks so my power divider (and my skill) should keep me covered.I preplan mudholes like you guys preplan your trip.lol
SHC Thanks this.
