Good to know they have Internationals at that yard, I heard good things about those trucks.

There was a class of 5 last week I believe that were all non-smokers. You shouldn't have too hard of a time getting a non-smoking trainer. Just let Robyn know and she will do her best to fit you with the right guy.

Hope to see you out there if you choose May, and good luck.

I am from the Payette yard and was with my trainer delivering a load to Dallas Fort Worth and my OC manager in Payette talked with my trainer and asked him if he thought I was ready to solo out at the 2 week mark because they had a truck in Denver for me. We were about 2 hours outside of Denver and were told to divert to the Denver yard and solo me out. I passed everything with flying colors and they gave me one of the newer International prostar trucks. It needs all the decals but was in great shape with only 110,000 miles on it. I completed my first run from the Coors Distrubutor in Golden Colorado back to Boise Idaho and them home for maintenance and detailing. I am off for a few days then heading back out Tuesday. Had a great time with my trainer, taught me a lot and an all around good guy. Hope to run into some of you May drivers out there in the truck stops. Drive safe.

Man, May must be the greatest company on earth!! LOL

With all the complaining you can find on these forums about every other company May has got a really squeaky clean history with drivers. Its amazing really. Usually if you look hard enough you can find someone to complain about anything. Not with May Trucking.

Even the school I plan on starting couldnt say enough great things about May. I of course told them that I'm not looking for a job but a career.

I believe I am going into this new career with eyes wide open. I went and got my CDL learning permit today (2 weeks before I even start school) May just seems to be a clear choice for me.

I'm so excited I'm not sure how I'll contain myself over the next 6 or so weeks (school, orientation, OTR training) till I can get out on my own.

I save my idle time up, and you can idle if its really hot up to 15% I think, although mostly its 10%, also you can request extra idle time. When its cold I just use the bunk heater.

The idle times are in the handbook, but honestly humid heat is worst than dry heat so PHX gets a break. I have asked trucker steve his opinion but has not commented at all in private or open. So this is my own complaint. Two trucks idling next to me, i got windows open and fan on and its still too hot too sleep well. I will clarify the policy with my DM, and manager and HR for clarity. P'Cola should be on same as phx. Lucky its cool again the first few times we were in the south it was mid 80's or low 90's. I am getting one of those barametors from Home depot to monitor how hot it is in the truck and my mirror and create a idle log so i can photo everything and document. I do not like to sleep with truck on but cant sleep sweating through the sheets!

Yeah like most people have said on this subject I'm fine when it's cold it's the humid heat I'm concerned about. It looks like saving idle time, running without AC so the nights seem cool and some 12 volt gadgets make this something that's easy enough to work around. At least I hope.

You wont understand it until you actually see how idle time calculates sitting in the truck! you can be 100% in one night!!! I was not aware of it being able to climb so fast. There needs to be more leeway, I got alot of questions to ask when i get back to my terminal. I have friends that drive for swift and millis, they do not have idle policies like Mays.

It all has to do with......MONEY............the less you idle the more money May will save. But, if you DO NOT get an "over-idle"
permission from your DM, you will pay for it so be careful.
You can always check your Qcomm to see where you are on your idle percents.
My guess is ALL companys have some form of idle program
in place. You might not hear about it, but its there.
