Hey guys,

I have been looking over the forum for the last few weeks and have decided to apply as a new driver to central. I have a few questions for the company guys.

Are you on elogs?

Are you expected to run over your hrs? Im not getting into trucking to try and get rich. I have very little bills, no house payment, no wife, no kids.
Im looking for a decent starter company to obtain my CDL and get a few years experience. I just don't want to sign on with a company that expects me to break the rules and put my CDL at risk.

Do they allow inverters for fridges etc.
Do any of the company trucks have apu's?
I live in Southern Ca, Im guessing they have alot of freight coming and going from CA?

Central was as good of a company to start at as any. They are on elogs, so no running over hours. They do allow inverters, some company trucks have APU's but they were O/O trucks and still have a APU but they do pull them off and sell them to O/O's so if you get one you will likely not have it long.

As a recent alumnae of Central here is my advice free and worth every penny:
1) Read this page from stem to stern. 2) Read all the major "starter Company" pages on this and other forums 3)After your due diligence think long and hard about what drives you as an individual. What drives you? What are your passions and What are your lifestyle preferences. Can you reside in your office/cubicle?

Central never wants you to run over your hours. Inverters are allowed if small, but check with maintenance. When I recently left company trucks were not equipped with apu's except if left by the L/O that surrendered the vehicle.

Yes I have been trying to do as much research as possible. Looks like all the started companies pretty much suck. lol.
I had a few years back in 01, running a refrigerated bobtail from Ca to vegas, usually 20hr days, loved being on the road, hated not having a sleeper and trying to sleep on the floorboard wrapped around the shifter. Since having that job I have allways wanted to go over the road and since I have no family and very little bills I figure why not.
