Driver Log help

My logs only ask for a trip number. BOLs go into the qualcom. That sounds like a very detailed log.. hehehehe

If there are no bills, are you responsible for the load? Do they put a seal on it?

No, no seal, it all goes on a flatbed.
They lease the tractor and trailer, and i will be loading it, and transporting it to where they need it, then return all the same when their done with it.
So as far as I know, they have never given anyone "papers" for this type of thing, just get it there for us, is the basics of it.
I just need to know, Can the DOT do anything, or fine me, if I do not have any type of shipping paperwork.
Or as I said, My log book is basic, and does have a section or lines, that read.... B/L or manifest number, OR shipper and commdity.....So I'm hoping, I can just write shippers and what I'm haulin, with No Papers....

At the bottom of the log there is a line for that information. In your case...since it is "in house transfer of equipment"...if you get my drift....you would put your company name (shipper) and "stage equipment" (commodity).

Since it is like moving office furniture from one office to another office and not transferring possession...like canned goods from shipper to a grocery distribution center....your log should be good for a Bill of Lading. Just to be on the safe side...stop off at any truck stop and get some basic (generic) blank BOL forms and fill in shipper and commodity. Piece count would be "1 Load", weight will be estimated of course...or you could ask what the total weight of the equipment would be. To be precise on the weight, weigh the tractor/trailer empty (so you know the "tare weight")...then when you get loaded, scale the "gross weight", subtract the gross from the tare..and you have the commodity (load) weight precise! [get your tare weight with full tanks of fuel]

 

For the poster having trouble with log recap:

Add up your previous 7 days, subtract this total from 70.
This will be the hours available to work on Day 8.

Don't worry about "rolling off" hours...just do the add 7 subtract from 70 game every morning, after you have rested so you are not rummy or tired and thinking straight. Use a calculator!!!

Remember..."Hours worked today"...is the total of Line 3 plus Line 4.
