I understand...I don't mind shorter runs...I hardly ever do resets and like driving everyday for 7-8-9 hrs and getting it parked before 7....the way I like to roll and it works for me.

    #### must be nice I can never get myself on this schedule. I usually drive when they throw miles at me 10 or 11 a day and always have to do a 34. I would love to just be able to drive 8 to 9 hours a day and shut it down so I can have less trouble finding a parking spot.

It all depends on what freight is doing. This one I'm on picked up yesterday. I got under it at around 1530. DDT was 2359. 568 miles, I'm sitting at destination 1 now.

But I had a lovely and very much needed visit with my step mom this afternoon. I hadn't seen her in almost a year.

just read the first page of posts just amazing the way these companies are treating new hires these days, I take it you survived the "training" and now your not getting any miles.
I'm out tonite on another 6010 km (aprox.3700miles)trip to the sunny south # .43/mile (u can do the math)and have no apprehension of being stuck out on the road or not being home within 6 days.
I'll pass many Swift trucks along the way and haven't run into one yet.
keep the shiny side up kids, things can get better, sorta
PS: I'm gonna keep an eye out for that brown one:toothy1:

Yea miles have dropped and today they try to make me take a 133 mile run that I will have to sit on for 24 hours. I said no because I need more miles and there answer was that is not a legitimate answer you have to take it.

I just took one that was 3 days to go 700 miles and had to sit for 24 and I will be ###### if I do it again. They said well you have a 768 mile and a 700 mile acting like that was great miles for the week. Hmm that is in six days the miles suck!

I just don't understand this company! I run my arse off for them and was averaging 2900 miles a week and as soon as I hit my six months with them the miles drop to half of what I was getting.

And they wonder why I am complaining and refusing to take a 133 mile run that I will sit on with no pay. Sorry I don't have to take $%##$. I did not take this load and my first that I have turned down. I did not come out here to play around I came out here to work hard and make decent money.

I can play around at home and work part time and make more than what I have made in the past three weeks.

I really do not understand how they can expect a driver to be happy with 1500 miles a week and continue to sit for long periods of time waiting to delver the #### load.

This next week better be better because I know the miles are there and I better be getting some or else I will be forced into working somewhere else. I got four kids to support and you cannot do this with checks less than $300

Its part and part of the freight cycle. Chances are you're not being starved as much as the freight isn't there to be pulled. The Werner folks are complaining too...

Once the produce season hits full swing, capacity will tighten-up again.

alright now a few things about this company I do not understand at all! First about myself! I go out of my way to do everything they tell me to do and have never been late on a load. I run hard well except for the last three weeks. I am not lazy and want to run to make money.

I will UN load a trailer if I have to and I work hard! I always have and usually have moved up with any company I have worked for. I keep there truck beautiful on the outside and inside and take care of it. Most of the time with my own money.

I go out of my way to make sure I treat their customers as best as I can even the ones that are rude I always end with have a nice day! I dress nice and make sure I look professional when I pull up to a customer. Everything you would want in a driver right?

You would think I would get treated better by Swift and this would be the kind of driver that they desire. But I don't think they care what kind of driver they get as long as you can pass the requirements your hired and that's it.

I knew when I started back driving again after 17 years I would have to start at the bottom but hell man how low am I suppose to go? $300 a week? Who in their right mind would want to be away from there family for six weeks at a time and work 70,80 100 hours a week for this?

This is getting ridiculous and it looks like this week is going to be the same with me ending up with about 1800 miles and after they take the lodging and schooling and what ever else they can get out of me I will end up with another sorry ##$#$# check.

I am tired of these 200 to 300 mile runs with way too much time on them and I am tired of you making me feel bad when I say I need miles. I have done nothing and I have done my job right! No preventable s and no service failures. I don't sit around and complain I just try to do my job the best I can.

I don't want to hear freight is slow when everyone else that I know who works for Swift is getting 1000 miles +. I was platinum for awhile multiple times until you decided to all of the sudden cut my miles.

When my truck broke down and you tried to give me a piece of crap that was missing everything and even would not start just because my truck when into shop status you could not understand why I did not want to live in a roach motel you took my breakdown pay from me.

Safety this and safety that!! Spend some time taking care of the drivers out here that want to work and don't try to screw me again! You wonder why you cannot retain drivers and you have a high turnover? I do not deserve this and I will not be doing any favors anymore for you Unless you honor your word and do what you say.

I am stuck here until you get paid back but I will be ###### if I will be here any longer unless you change your ways. All I ask for is for me to get the miles I use to get and I don't expect it every week as stuff happens but come on now I cannot support my kids on $300 a week and have to worry every time I spend my money on your tolls, lumpers and so on if I am going to get paid back or am i going to have to call payroll for three weeks.

Sorry guys and gals but when I drove before I never ever had to go through as much as I have the past month. I made more 17 years ago just starting out then I do with Swift right now.

Just really gets me upset when all I want to do is my job!

Are you talking to your DM? If you can't get a response there, go to your FM. No results there, TM.

Whoever it is you talk to, it's not seen as being a PITA. It's seen as having the gumption to speak up for yourself. In this company, you will get nowhere unless you have the nerve to stand up for yourself.

BTW: It's time to refuse a couple of loads that don't meet your needs. You have been pegged as the guy who will run those BS loads. Planners will take advantage of that as long as you let them. so YOU need to put a stop to it. You will be walked on as long as you allow it.

If you're one of those people who thinks they should just be allowed to quietly move on up without putting any effort into speaking up, this may not be the right company. You have to blow your own horn here. Make yourself stand out.
