He might have one of those blue and white placards hanging from his mirror....along with color blind....can't see black on white...maybe this will help!
Does down-shifting use more fuel?

to not need a cdl for a dump truck--it would have to be a small landscaper truck wouldnt it
-
In CA we have a non-commercial Class B....due to the air brakes, and possibly placard requirements.......Fire Apparatus and some larger dumps require the N-C class B.

ok---lost me there----

This guy's gotta be a troll...Nobody's that dense.
Yup Thanks this. -
Under 26k with hydraulic brakes is non CDL, might be other things that require a CDL though, mostly to do with passengers or HazMat.

Robert, the type of truck you drive may be fine with that operation. I don't think so, but it may be. Our trucks, that weigh upwards of 80,000 lbs requires more than just the brakes to stop. Engine compression, jake brakes, etc, all aid in getting our big trucks stopped. Your not having a CDL proves that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to class 8 commercial vehicles. I guarantee that dump truck can't haul more than 8 or 9 thousand pounds. Hell any vehicle licensed for more than 8 tons requires a CDL to operate it. That's a federal thing, not state.
