I just finished getting unloaded after 2.5hours, and am now currently wasting away my 14 waiting for dispatch to come in and find me a load. BUT im currently parked in the cabalas truck parking, parking lot which over looks Kansas motor speedway!!!
American TruckerWedge Thanks this. -
Be careful. They let a MT driver go a couple weeks ago.Apparently he went in Cabelas looking for a blow up sheep.
-
Haha they have those at cupids I hear them advertise on the cb

So today was a pretty unproductive day lol
I drove the 30 minutes to the receiver this morning, backed in, took them 2.5 hours to unload me, then I moved across the street to Cabela's because they had a "Truck Parking" Parking lot which also happened to over look Kansas Motor Speedway!
I sat there for 6 hours
then got a load going from Spring Hill, KS to Loveland, CO. So I go over to the shipper for the Drop and Hook and they Refused the trailer! Because the Landing Gear Cross Memeber was bent 1" so I had to call a machanic out to "fix" it, they hooked a chain to the cross member right on where it was bent hooked it to the back of my tractor and pulled a little bit and the bar poped right back out....$168.64 for 3 minutes of work that was completely unessisary! The mechanic said they are over there a few times a day haveing to "fix" BS problems with trailers.
Anyway since that wasted a good chunk of what little I had on my 14 after starting my day at 0430 at this point it was 1415....So i scaled the load and headed west....
Didnt get to far made it to Salina, KS at the Bosselmans and had a AWESOME dinner at Grandma Maxes which is why im here instead of the J 1 mile away. $14.25 but sooo worth it, i always try to find the pilot with Grandma Maxes.
Anyway My apt is 5:30pm their time tomorrow at Wally World and thats going to leave me with 3.5 hours left to drive and 0-3 hours left on my 14 depending on how fast they unload me
.
Sooo I'm saying screw that I called wally world she said they might unload me as what i have is a quick unload....worst case i sit there all day right? So i'm doing a 10+pretrip then im heading up there, I should be there by 9am their time, so I figure even if I have to wait, and they unload me in 30 min
(ya right) i'll only have to sit there for 1.5 hours for my 10 to be up and be ready to roll again OR if they unload me early i'll still have a few hours to get loaded and parked. Either way I see it as a win win.
So last thing before I go to sleep here,
Allot of people think about the things that a Trainer would teach you and wonder how your suposed to learn those things at W/S without a trainer.....Non of which are all that big of a deal, but would make you allot more comfortable and confident going out solo if you knew how to do these simple things, EXAMPLE: Fueling, Scaleing, Weigh Stations, etc.
So I'm thinking about makeing a video series of how-to's or Tutorials of how to the simple things they dont teach in school but that you will do every day out here....
So Whatcha think? Good Idea? or Waste of Time?
Anyway Good night! Gonna drive all night and see if i cant get wally world to take there.....stuff early!
American TruckerRetired, beezer, rubberducky68 and 4 others Thank this. -
Good idea, :smt017 when do you have time to drive ?
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
honestly if you cant figure this stuff out, you might be in trouble. but its a nice thought. that wal mart dc can unload pretty fast when they want do. i think they are one of the better ones.
American-Trucker Thanks this. -
I'm still in school in missoula AT but I have applied to WS and tutorials like that would be really helpful, hopefully if things start moving ill get started truckin before you make them but they will definately be helpful to people in my position!American-Trucker and 2021DREAM Thank this.

I think that would be a good idea. Rather watch that and learn something than watch the crapola they put on TV now-a-days. Go for it!American-Trucker Thanks this.

Sounds good to me too. I'm also currently in training and it looks like I'll hopefully be heading for orientation on the 13th of June. Maybe you'll have something by then.
American-Trucker Thanks this.
