I need to know of a way to disable self-canceling (yes you read that right) turn signals on a Freightshaker. They always cut out well before they should and I usually wind up holding them on.
:biggrin_25510: I will need to make this "adjustment" cleanly, so keep that in mind when offering a suggestion.

    Deal with it.
To try and "adjust" something like that may void a warranty on the vehicle.

Some of our trucks have that too and it is really annoying like when doing a S turn.

If it has a Saginaw style column, there is an integral horn ring and cancel cam mounted to the shaft under the steering wheel.

Without disassembling the column, including removing the steering wheel and lock-ring from the upper head assembly (under spring tension), you are not going to gracefully bypass the self cancel.

At the very least, if it uses a multi-function turn signal stalk, you'd have to file off the button on the inside of the switch--the part that is tripped by the cam. This would also require disassembly of the column.

Well from your response along with the others it doesn't sound like I have much choice. Will I damage the stalk by holding it on when the cam trips it?

In my opinion it's a safety issue. It always cancels well before the turn is complete or in some cases before it's even begun.

One day I'll have to get back in a real truck.

Probably the only damage would be that eventually it won't self cancel. So I guess that would be a bonus for you. I don't know how long that would take though.

The Volvo I drive is just as real a truck as any out there. I'm sick and tired of this "if you don't drive a Peterbilt, you're gay" and whatever other crap is spewed out there.

That aside, I feel your pain on this one. The one I'm driving now... love that truck, I really do... but I have a couple gripes about it.

First one, self canceling turn signals. They'd be just fine on a straight truck - not so much on a combination vehicle. Boss man who owns the truck.. ironically, he hates it, but loves the self canceling signals. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Wheel-to-wheel fairings. If the front section could be removed, and a sidebox placed under the passenger side door, it would do a lot to make up for the lack of a catwalk.

Air horn placement. I really don't want it to be on the steering wheel. I'm sure I've upset a driver or two when I'd place my road atlas and paperwork on the steering wheel to finish it at the end of the night. So of course I don't do that anymore.

I hate any buttons on the steering wheel. Like on Cascadias the jakes are on the steering wheel and if you want to shut them off while turning a corner you have 360 degrees of where they might be. As opposed to just reaching to the dash and flicking them off. BTW I hate Volvos.
