Great news. Funny how when you are in training you could care less about the miles and just want hours behind the wheel and it is the exact opposite after upgrade.

I hope you all met up....LOL......when I was there Craig called me and we saw each other at the same time....and Craig says something to the effect "Sitting out here with the smokers are you?"....my answer "Where else would I be?"...LOL

Engine, I well remember those days of living out of the duffle bag....it was actually just one year ago.

Well, my weekend got turned totally upside-down. After I delivered in Tipp City yesterday I waited and waited and waited for a load.....finally got one that was headed for the rail in Chicago.....my FM got it changed so that I could head south with it.....only thing is south turned out to be Garland, TX.....no way close to Alabama......then there were no plans to repower this load so I just stayed on it and gave up my home time in Alabama because I need to be home for 4 days the end of the month for my son's HS graduation.

So now I'm sitting at the Visitor's Center on I40 just inside Arkansas and will head for Caddo Mills, TX tomorrow where I shall get in another 34......LOL

Hey! We actually moved somewhere last night. I am posting from the Markham terminal. Dropping an Xpress Global Systems load of carpet here and then we are heading over to Rock Island tonight to pick up a Fedex load. Wish we did not have to wait for Fedex to open but at least we are moving.

Funny, I had just said to Anne two days ago that it is weird, with all of the time we have spent in Tunnel Hill, that we had not hauled any carpet yet.

Congratulations on moving!!!.....The one thing I hate about running FedEx loads is that you have to run at night.....and that means you slept good the night before and then have to try and grab a nap when you're not tired.

I haven't decided yet on what to do today.....since I'm sitting in this little Pilot for the weekend....I can clean and organize the truck, I can take myself out for Mother's Day dinner at the little restaurant at the truckstop across the street, I can watch movies and play on the computer all day, I can twiddle my thumbs.....decisions, decisions.

Well, at least each of those options sound better than lamenting about the time you had hoped to be spending with the boyfriend in Alabama!!:biggrin_2557:

It is a shame, I think, that the Driver Tech is so quick to acknowledge time off requests...and then dispatch is just as quick to completely ignore that request. Granted, occasionally things happen where time off requests will have to be adjusted to suit the needs of the business. But when that becomes the norm rather than the exception, one cannot help but question the adeptness of those in charge. If this were a problem that similarly affected the office personnel, one wonders if they would show more resourcefulness in correcting the issue. The nonchalant ineptitude of many in dispatch (i.e.; night and weekend) can be infuriating.

Sincere Good Luck and Best Wishes Musicgal with getting your requested time off for your sons graduation in a few weeks. That is a milestone in the lives of both Mother and son, and a time for creating some lasting impressions of appreciation, bonding love and respect between you both.

Oh, and BTW, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY !! :biggrin_25514::biggrin_25514:

Thank you, Poobah......I just got a beautiful ecard from my son and will be so glad when I get home to give him a BIG hug. We talk on the phone, IM, and sometimes even Skype, but it's just not the same as wrapping my arms around him and getting a big squeeze in return.
