4-34's refers to a 34 hour reset. I was getting one per week. Maybe going 62 works for you, but it doesn't do so well for me. Getting tickets kinda does the opposite of what I am trying to do. I can't seem to make money if I continue to pay speeding tickets and sooner or later the company won't be able to insure drivers with a lot of tickets.

I prefer to drive when I am away from home. I am not as fortunate as some of you persons that can have your wives/girlfriends along. I like to drive when I am away from home and take my 34 at home, or someplace that I want to be, like with a relative in another state that I don't normally get to see. A truck stop is not my choice of places to be sitting doing a 34.
Right now I am forced to take a 34 because the truck broke again and they can't look at it till Monday. I guess I m just one of those guys that hates sitting.Last edited: May 8, 2011

My sympathies to you and the family. That is tragedy to the n'th degree. Take care of yourself and do not allow yourself to dwell on this too long. It is not good for your mental health. We need no other occurrances of this.mama mia Thanks this.

Well here I sit at the International Dealer sitting and waiting for Monday when they can look at the Prostar (cornbinder) and see if they can fix it in a reasonable period of time. I was on a 2,745 mile run and made the first 2,000 in three days, on schedule to make the monday delivery on-time. So the engine starts knocking every time I start pulling a hill. I contact OTRM and they say to shut it down immediately and they will call me a wrecker. I was close to a Petro, so got off the freeway and there is an International dealer on the opposite side of the freeway. So here I sit. Guess I will pop in a dvd and try to enjoy the time. I have been running 10 on and 10 off since the 4th and the break will be somewhat welcome. Wave if you are going by the Petro at exit 159 on I-44 in IL. I am across the freeway from there.

They will run you all over the country and when you want to go home you request it on the Qualcomm a minimum of 10 days prior to your first day off. I personally request my time a month in advance. they have another message on the Qualcomm to remind them, or you can just send one to your dm to make certain they havent forgotten. It happened to me a week and half ago when they had me going the wrong direction. They had no load going south from Sacramento so they had me bobtail to the Fontana terminal so I wouldn't be late.Lady K Thanks this.

question for all ... those who are dispatched out of CRSWVC do they run more than if you were dispatched out of CRSFO? Ran into a fellow Central company driver at a pilot in Ogden who said he gets nearly a grand a week after switching from Fontana to West Valley.

question for ya, i take you have the older one, not the prostar (PLUS) is it cummins 15L, the newer prostar has newer updates on its maxxforce 13L and some design changes to the motor, , engine knocking what RPM do you have it at, outside of that, hows the leg room and driving in tight places with the prostar, would you buy one, of course after the little bugs are fix,Last edited: May 8, 2011

There's a few Central trucks in the Denver Pilot. Anybody from the thread here?

I have a 2011 prostar limited with the small cube fridge in it. It has the cummins IX engine, same as the W-9 I came out of. It doesnt seem to have the pulling power that the kenworth had, but that could be because it has been fouled up since I got it.
The engine knocking is between 1,300 and 1,500 rpm and has been slight from day 1, it just started getting really loud and figgered I better get it looked at.
The leg room is great. The seat goes way back for long legged people, steering wheel slides out pretty far also. I am 6' tall and I have it forward when I am starting out so I can get the clutch to the floor, I slide it back when I get on the freeway and start a long drive.
The steering to me is really good, but remember I came from a Kenworth (long nose) W-9, so just about anything is an improvement from that. I loved that truck, but the steering sucked. I figgered out a lot of workarounds for getting in tight places and never hit anything, this one is easier with shorter turning radius. Once they get the engine fixed, I'll let you know if I would buy one or not. I have had air line problems, air drier problems, and now the knocking engine think and have been in it for a month, so at this point I'm kinda irritated. The W-9 was the same for the first month and after the irritating things were repaired, I got used to it and enjoyed it a lot. I really like the larger cabin and sleeper, but you cant put the top bunk up. I took out the mattress and use it for storage of soft drinks so I dont have to spend a fortune at the truck stops.
Hope that helps. -
Who is your dm in fontana? Like anywhere, there are good ones and bad ones. I went through 2 before I got a good one. I currently have Martin, he currently is the operations manager and only runs a small 48 state fleet. I told them that I wanted to stay with him knowing that he would not be running the western regional fleet anymore. I hope it works out because I don't like running the eastern seaboard states. I have been running 3,000-4,000 miles per week with him. There were a couple of rotten weeks and there was only 1 week of 4,000 miles. If you keep after your dm and remind him you are out there and looking for a load BEFORE you reach your 99, they will work for you. Keep your mac6 up to date. That is really important. Then the planners see your availability and will start looking before you get to 99. I can't stress the importance of the mac6 enough. If you don't do your mac6 and then complain, they will blow you off.nickellizard Thanks this.
