Cold it be not making enough to make the payments/fuel/etc for a couple weeks or so? Do they take the following weeks in lump sums to make the past due payments? I could see how being in the shop for a few days could do that.

As with any business, the costs of being in business don't go a way because you take time off or are not as productive as you need to be. For the most part after a year or so you know what you outgoing expenses are going to be and you know what you must make to cover them. Poor planning and poor productivity shuts O/Os down.

They will take all of you maint, funds in a lump sum, but only out of your maint. account untill you are paid in full. We started out with having .10 taken out because we have been owner ops. before and knew the maint. is very costly. Even if you run good miles when your truck is in the shop for a week at a time, you will go broke and fast. When we left JCT they did not put any thing on our dac report, but they tried sticking it to us on insurance and took all we had built up in our ins. account. To answer the question on where the add said they would run teams was fromm Ok. to Ca. and back, from Tx. to Ca. and Fl. Ca.. We ran where ever they needed us to run. The problem we ran into was they were letting solo run runs that teams should had been on and put teams on loads that should had been solo runs. We got tired of sitting. If I'm going to sit it is going to be at home. A team should not have to sit 2 days a week. I am very glad things went the way they did for us because we are home working local and making just as much money now.

I run for JCT. I have been here for a couple of years. There have been good times and bad while i have been here. For the most part good. My biggest gripe has been equipment. But i cant blame the company for that. In this case the blame would have to go to previous driver of the truck im in...and, Freightliner for the the lack communication and proper diagnostics. Long story short, im in a lemmon. Its been a nightmare from day one with this truck. However, i have to look at it from the company's side as well...how many drivers do they get that say...there is something wrong with my truck? In this case, they are finally starting to listen and see that im not just blowing smoke. The result is that i am now getting a new truck...and will be moving some of what i have paid into the old one to the new.
As for the people that like to bash the company, its their right to do so..however, they have to remember that this is a business and should be treated as such. You only get out of it what you put in to it. If your low on miles...get with the DM...or the planners. This company has a open door policy...you can speak with anyone, even JC himself. Its up to you what you want to make of it. Blowing up on the shop or your DM or someone in the office because you feel entitled to something does not get you more miles or your truck fixed. Thats what company drivers do when they feel the company owes them something.

As a side note.....Im in a broken truck. It has been since they i got into it. However, i still run 3500+ a week...and i still bring home as a solo...$1000 to $2500 a week. Despite using way too much fuel and breaking down all the time. Its all about how you plan your business, what you spend your money and down time on...and and how you structure your business. But also by having a good relationship with your DM and the shop and keeping your nose to the grindstone.

My wife and I run team for 2 1/2 years. We would still be out there if it wasn't for her getting cancer. She is holding her own by the way, she is a tough bird. We had a 2007 FL Classic, when we got it we were getting 5.2 mpg. within 3 months we had it up to 6.5 constant. We made great money. We made enough to be able to take 6 weeks off in July to go camping. I am now back running solo. The first 2 months have been terrible, no matter what I did, I couldn't get better than 4.3 mpg. After taking it to several differant dealer shops, and JCT, I finally got it home to my Mechanic. I am now getting 6.8mpg. My pay has come up $1000.00 a week. Last week I grossed $5685.00, and this week will be $6854.00
