Yes, a paid recruiter is so much more truthful then the 4 to 5 operators who go broke every week!
LOL
All you wanted was one person to tell you what you wanted to hear and off you go.
A few months from now you'll be here also warning greenhorn newbies of Perkins little scam.
It's like greenhorns breed in a vacuum in a different world.
Yes lets tell a unrelated story to back up your plan.
I see you haven't learned from your past mistakes.
Yet you do it anyway.
Well some of us get tired of trying to help people such of yourself who ask questions, get warnings and do it anyway!
Then act all high and mighty because a recruiter told you what you wanted to hear!
It's not that you are blind.
It's that you hate the truth!
Enjoy your experience for you keep Kenny at the Huntingburg shop busy going after abandon trucks.

You mean YOUR version of the truth, or half truth, as is the reality of things.
The TRUTH, is that there are drivers here that've been here for extensive periods of time( 5+ years). I think I ran into a few drivers that've been here 20+ years.
I know that I've been here over 3 years now and I'm profitable.
I know that you hear horror stories EVERYWHERE you look! Doesn't matter if it's company driver or lease-purchase.
You CAN make it here because there ARE people doing it. That's not to say that EVERYONE makes it here.
And I've heard some of the inane reasons why some can't hack it here. Things like; lack of communication, or sending in your macro messages, telling your DM that you don't want to go to/through New Mexico, your lease/purchase truck doesn't go fast enough for your liking, etc.
I've never met a trucker that got rich driving trucks. and it's no different here at Perkins.
I haven't decided, but i may stay here once my truck is paid off. I like the customer freight and the varied places we go. And ya can't complain about them light loads! -
As I said many time before.
I am talking about Perkins Lease Purchase deal! I don't care about you guys who work hard to make it with trucks you bought yourselves.
BTW
Bet you 1,000 dollars you can't name 2 drivers who have been there 20+ years!
I know the one who has been there over 20years and he lives just down the road from me. All the others left when the old man retired!
Don't try to blow smoke up my butt with you BS when I live in the middle of Perkins old crowd!
BTW
It's just a trucking company, not God!

Just got off the phone with OOIDA, the compliance dept stated that their(Perkins) lease complies with all regulations, the only catch is that they charge you $2000 if you don't stay for a year, called Perkins back and they said no it's a walk away lease. There is no suit against Perkins by OOIDA. I checked out Taylor and Associates trucking attorneys like Tonymann1800 suggested and didn't find anything about Perkins except a blog post where another driver was warning of them. I get the feeling some of these guys are making up horror stories to stamp out competition.. Am I wrong?

Good. Now take a look at my thumbnail pic. That's my Lease Purchase truck! Been here since the end of 07. Anybody whose been with a commpany 20+ years has also prolly another 5-10 years experience prior to that.
In laymen's terms, that means they're ripe for retirement! What with Social Security and Medicare fears. It makes sense to retire sooner and try to collect as much of that as you can! Besides, not all of the old school drivers can keep up with the ever changing climate of the trucking industry. I think that things like e-logs are inevitable. I've talked to plenty of older drivers that act scared of computers!
@KMullins: No, some people signed on in the midst of the recession, which I admit was brutal.
However, there some who apparently came here with delusions of grandeur. Thinking the truck would pay for itself while they got rich. Or lease a truck, put another driver in it and then lease a 2nd truck.
Finally, some people just aren't cut out to be anything other than company drivers. They don't have the entrepreneurial spirit, know-how, and prolly aren't all that efficient. Let alone good at planning trips, creating smart fuel strategies, etc. -
I met with Andy Card last summer, and the company I drove for was a Perkins broker.
There is no way in the world I would drive for Perkins after reviewing their practices, pay and so called 'Benefit' plans. -
Amen,, well said!! ( the little guy)..

OK you have already questioned the walk away portion of the lease, because contrary to what they tell you , it is NOT a walk away lease. After having a legal department review the lease at OOIDA that even tells you about the $2000 early termination fee, you are wondering if people are making it up........let me guess, now OOIDA is against them too. -
Perkins is a mer scam thats the fact they should be investigated for fraud!
-
No, OOIDA isn't against them per say. I was only correcting someone else's "facts". Their lease is compliant and there isn't a suit against them through OOIDA. No horse in this race so no need for me to make things up.
