Some of you guys must live next to the company doing the recapping. How long do you have to sit on blocks while you are having tires recapped?

I have about 10-15 casings in my storage building at any one time... I rotate the stock so to speak... these are all tires I bought new or were on my truck or trailer when I purchased them. I did buy four Bridgestone casings from a friend of my son last month.

My retreader comes to my door, picks up my casings, delivers them the next week and I have my local shop install them...

Your not exactly who I was referring to. Unless your next post is about installing air tabs or trailer skirts in order to try and save $1.:biggrin_2559:
Like Krooser we have a bunch of extra tires. However you only need 2-4 in order to get yours capped. You don't have to do all of them at the same time.

My wife gives me grief about leaving my chains at the house. Can't imagine leaving a couple tires around. And the rats make nests in our old tires at the farm plus they get moved and stuff laid on them. Not going to work for me.

For me it would be like loosing $1.25 to save a buck. The time and effort to save $1500 is going to cost me a couple grand.

But this is like the guy saying he won't run for less than $4/mile then you find out he does two loads at 150 miles each a week.

    8 drives + 2 steers bought as virgins = 10 tires.

Replace steers w/ virgins...I now have 12 tires.

Have the old steers capped. I get them back in 2 weeks.

Put those 2 caps on drives and send the first 2 drives in to be capped.
Get them back, send the next 2 in to be capped.
Get them back, send the next 2 in to be capped.
Get them back, send the next 2 in to be capped.

In 8 weeks, I have newly capped tires all of the way around. I keep the 2 extra tires for spares.

This time around, the turnaround was quicker. I bought new virgin rubber for the steers and sent the old ones to be capped.

When I got them back, I put those 2 plus the 2 tires I had previously capped on the truck, sending the 4 tires I removed in to be capped. In 1 more week, I'll have them back and they'll be on the truck....good, deep tread all of the way around the truck again.

In the mean time, I'm still out driving my truck earning money.

...and after I've had my cases capped twice, I'll still get $70+ for the cases.:biggrin_25525:

Nowdays, most places won't buy your casings if they're over 5 years old.
