Boston at 7 am. All those other places, I love those cities, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, New York I could really go for a NY hot dog right now. Wonderful places.

Hey there.
I got to throw in Oakland, CA. Its not the worst. But its dangerous, gangs. Heard of way too many crazy shootings that never get reported. I knew drivers who wouldn't park there, truckstop or no truck stop. They'd sit 2 or three hours out at a rest area and drive in the morning.
Spokane, WA is horrible on the side of low clearances. Many of them are the old iron underpasses marked at 13'+ and I have dropped all the air out just to slide under at an 1" clear.
Medford, OR. Small town in Southern Oregon. All of the pickups are in an industrial area built circa 1913. No parking. Everyone's 4 flashing. Cars are weaving around. And with one wrong turn you are up in the residential with no legal way out. Oh, for a GPS back then.
But on the whole, I can say with all my heart that I don't ever want to drive NE. Just keep me South, West, Mid-West... doesn't matter. No NYC ever. I'll catch a cab first.

Hard to argue that one. Between the constant changes in lane control for trucks on the loop, and the drivers who think they are in a NASCAR race and not wanting to give an inch, it can be pretty hectic there.
#1 on my list though is California.
- I cannot stand the 55mph speed limit when cars are flying around you at a higher legal speed.
- I cannot stand the DOT out there. I don't care what anybody says, there is a scam going out there between the inspectors and the mobile repair trucks. I got shut down there in 2002 in a nearly brand new Peterbilt because the steering shaft was "worn". Rather than get it towed to be fixed under the factory warranty, I was told to just pay to get it fixed. On my way back (the next day), they tried to shut me down at the same place, on the opposite side of the highway, for the same thing.
- I cannot stand the State's constant attempts to remove owner operators from ports by trying to require new trucks, and almost new reefer units.
- I could go on forever about what I cannot stand about California

Someone explain Atlanta to me -- they have 3 times the concrete that Chicago has, a third of the people, but it take at least 3 times the amount of time to get through, unless you go through between 0200 and 0300 on a Sunday morning when the moon is full! And dont you dare think about moving from the truck lanes to a passing lane unless you have a spare $500 or so in your pocket.
I agree with others CA isnt all that bad, yes its slow but there are worse places.
I have heard Houston keeps getting rated the worst, but I havent had bad luck there, not like Atlanta.
And you can keep DC and the NE states, especially Vermont. It can take you all day just to do 300 miles, and you better have your permit even to go across the street! -
I couldn't agree more, and I live here!!
But as for the worst of the worst? I've never driven them, but being in the passenger seat was enough to make me wet my pants...
Atlanta, GA... Absolute NIGHTMARE!!!
Nashville TN... Everyone running around, bumper to bumper, changing lanes every which way, and all at 70 mph!! The 5-10 interchange at five o'clock on a Friday on a holiday w/e is less nerve wracking!!!

In my opinion, New York is preferable to Washington DC. All of New York's roads are finished. There are always several different ways to get somewhere.
DC however, somewhat like Baltimore, scrapped most of it's planned freeways about 30 years ago, thanks to local politicians and NIMBY'ers.
Now look what that got us. -
My worst state that i dont drive often is California
-55mph speed limit is ok in the smaller states but CA is so big it really hurts your overall Mileage Average, and it makes no since theres like 200 miles of Desert and its still 55 going south or East out of LA!
-NO EXIT NUMBERS or MILE MARKERS (except north of Sacramento)
-Not every Exit has a Sign telling you whats off the exit and weather to turn Right or Left to get to it
-NO EXIT NUMBERS!!!!!!!!
-and that Stupid 35mph speed limit coming down Grapevine
- 1 suggestion is to get Prepass i always get Green lights
how ever my worst city to drive in which i drive through more often is ATLANTA, GA
-IF it rains count of adding 2 hours to your ETA
-even at 5am theres slow traffic -
cabbage patch in the fog

I can't comment on the west because I've never ran it. The worst for me is Pittsburgh. Low bridges, nothing seems to connect to each other. Skinny streets with big hills. I went to a drop yard yesterday where the directions I was given were coming from a different direction. I finally found the place an hour after I was 2 miles from it. I had to drive my car hauler down a residential side street with cars parked a foot from the curb on both sides down a steep grade the WRONG way on a one way street down into a gravel hole at the bottom then had to get turned around and come back the same way I came in. I felt lucky no cars were coming the other way. There was no room for a bicycle and me on that street let alone another vehicle. Good thing this was on a Saturday morning. I don't want to think about if it was Friday afternoon how it would have turned out.

Phoenix Az and the surrounding area's are some
of the worst drivers in the nation.I haul fuel and
you would think that they could give me a little
room to spare but that doesn't happen very often.
