No what is amazing is how many people come to the rescue of the driver. Even if the guy had been standing in the street it was still the drivers fault. If you can't see that then you have no business behind the wheel yourself!!!
New Prime driver runs over paper seller on street.

it was an exit ramp, he must have been speeding. i hope they crucify the driver. in one article, losing control on an exit ramp denotes SPEEDING......
and then to take a LEFT turn and he hits something in the median, is telling me he DID NOT go far enough into the intersection to make that left turn...
how can anyone "stand up" for the dumbarse driver..???123456 Thanks this. -
Blaming a handicapped for being on the median and then defending the driver? Sorry I was only behind the wheel of a rig for a short time compared to some on these boards, but there is no logical excuse for this wheel holder to have been unable to prevent this incident. Don't call it an accident, that is something that denotes a scenario that COULDN'T be avoided. As a CDL holder you are expected to be a professional, this piss ant obviously isn't.

folks, this is an unfortunate accident, but in reading the articles it seems the truck was making a left turn when the gentleman was hit. it doesnt seem he lost control and was all over the highway. i have been on this exit ramp and the median there is about 2 feet to 2 and a half feet wide. and seeing as how there was a chair there and the concrete slopes off on each side it may have been possible the chair slipped etc. you can be sure that if there was anyway to charge the driver they would have done so, you may have to consider that the article links posted are by who the guy was selling papers for, and they assigned him to that station, you might say they would lean to making it seem the driver was at fault to relieve them of any responsibility for stationing him there.
do any of you really think that the cops would cut this truckdriver any slack if there was any way this was his fault?ironpony Thanks this. -
many of the articles say "he is not charged yet" (or words to that effect....) charges can be brought days after an accident...i tend to believe the driver came off the highway, failing to slow down WELL IN ADVANCE of the exit and as he made his left turn, did so by NOT going further into the intersection as one IS SUPPOSED TO DO..had this been a right hand turn (for instance), and he climbed up and over the curbing, we would all know he DID NOT DO a proper button-hook right turn..how can anyone make a left turn and NOT climb up and over the median or a human being and NOT see this as he was making the turn...???
in another article, it says the police said, "the driver lost control", again read that, i posted that one too....
how does one lose control on an exit ramp minus high rate of speed and getting too close to the curbing..???
like i said and i'll stand by it, i hope they string him up (the driver)..too many times i personally have witnessed drivers (truck drivers that is) take exit ramps at too high a speed, and up here in MASS many of our exit ramps are sharp and banked....almost every single roll over was the result in a driver (not familiar with our roads) speeds into those exit ramps..
he (that particular driver of this article) was speeding, and to fail negotiate a left turn (which by many standards IS EASIER THAN A RIGHT TURN),amounts to negligence, improper set up, perhaps newbie driver, and down right stupidity.....after all, doesn't New Prime hire the inexperienced...??? and if he HAD been with New Prime for a long time, or he was a driver with at least 2 years experience, he still MESSED UP ROYALLY... -
Well there you have it. SO if you ever get tired of life then just jump in front of Truckerx1's truck. It'll be his fault, by his own admission.
-
Sure glad you're not a judge.
I see you have him tried, convicted, and executed at this point.
That's a tight cloverleaf exit... exactly how fast could he have been going without rolling the rig? 25 mph? The adaptive cruise control would have started applying the service brakes if he'd been going very much faster... -
the trucker is still at fault...how does anyone account for him hitting something, someone, making a left turn...?? speeding on the ramp number one and taking that left turn too soon.....he's at fault all day long...i hope he gets fired after this. probably already did, for having an accident with life-threatening injuries. again, the articles quoted the police as saying, "the driver lost control"...i think that right there is enough to "judge" the driver.skibum_63 Thanks this.

All you have to support this is a Fox News talking head making after the fact judgements...
The exit ramp the talking head is referring to is from westbound US421 to southbound Stratford Rd... it feeds into an overpass OVER US421. There is no lefthand turn from Stratford Rd at that location.
The only lefthand turn lane is from northbound Stratford Rd onto the entrance ramp leading onto US421 - is on the other side of the road.
There's a lot more to this than just mad truck driver kills poor innocent disabled man... and that's why the driver wasn't instantly charged.Last edited: May 15, 2011

no there is also the winston-salem newspaper......they too have said, as of friday no charges yet, but police are still investigating...charges as i said earlier can be placed days after an accident. i still do believe the trucker was an idiot that could not control his truck on an exit ramp. still does not explain how a trucker could not negotiate a left hand turn.
you need to go back to the very first posting and LISTEN to the news reporter where she says the police said the driver came off the ramp and crossed over the median....now to me, that sounds a whole lot like "driver loses control".. and somewheres else in the reports he failed to make the left turn...Last edited: May 15, 2011
