not sure if her training her replacement was good or not. the one i knew that ran (for lack of better word) fleet 44 wasn't that good.. loads not there for pick up, being sent after loads that had already been picked up, loads not ready for 3 or 4 days, lack of follow up on her part concerning loads.

They will expect you to take a refresher course for 3 weeks at a CDL school. You will do the pad driving and road driving the same as everyone, but just want take the license test. Then when you come to the company, they will take you on the road for a couple weeks and if they feel you have control of the truck, you want have to go thru the entire training period like I did. Seen a few they've done this with, and they'd rather be training people that need it and let the experienced ones be making them money.

Hello everyone, Thank you for your time and thank you TRUCKERS REPORT for your website. I am new to this site but not new to trucking. I recently left Conway Truckload because they determined it was time to put my pay check out to pasture. Veteran drivers you know what I mean. That's when a company figures why give the veteran driver that's taken care of them for years 3,000 miles at 40c a mile when they can save money by giving the lessor paid trainee (no offense to new truck drivers we all must start somewhere) fresh out of school 3,000 a week at 30-32c a mile and save money. Trucking companies call it good business. My Bible calls it stealing from and biting the hand that kept you fed.
I'm not one to jump around from company to company and sit in terminals and truck stops all day complaining about my trucking company. We all make mistakes and besides action speaks louder than words.
I realize the relationship we have with trucking co. are much like a marriage; Unless the company you are with is crazy or bad to the core u may as well weather the storms until its smooth sailing because you will have to start over and go through the same marriage whoa's with another company. However, Conway Truckloads plan to starve me out finally got the best of me so here I am about to start a new adventure with a new company.
Which brings me to my question (I know about time right lol). I chose to start orientation for USA Trucking this Thursday. The pay is decent if I can obtain miles and I like the benefits and $3,500 sign on bonus. Ive heard a few bad reports on them over the years like I have about the rest of the companies out there. I would like honest input about USA Trucking. Please no lies from drivers that where justifiably fired or fly by rumors. Thank you so much for your time and response. God bless you and yours!

As I've said soul, I am happy. So far my FM answers any questions I have ASAP. Over the weekend I sent him 3 emails. He had them answered within an hour of coming back to work. Good luck sir, and keep us updated as to how it works out for you.

I appreciate your positive response WrightRacing. It sounds like USA is fair enough to give me the opportunity to get out of it what I put into it and that's what Im looking for because I plan to put my all into it. I am also curious to find out if USA has forced dispatch to Canada? It they have hazmat loads and can we store up off day if we stay out? As always thank you for your honest input.

I know they have loads to Canada if you have a passport and want them. They also have hazmat loads, but you aren't required to have a hazmat license if you don't want them.

As for sometime you get 1 day for every 7 OTR. You have to have 2 to go home, and can get no more than 5. 35 days OTR= 5 days home

    200days OTR=5 days home

I've been following your posts too Wrightracing because I'm looking for a good company to get trained with too. Are your miles still as high as they were at the beginning of your posts? What does USA mainly haul? Is the freight no-touch or do you have to unload it yourself? Sorry for all the questions back to back but I am curious and trying to do my research.

Got 3133 miles last week. They haul whatever pays the bills, tires, food, oil, anything to make a buck.

Almost all of it is no touch. Had one load of fertilizer on pallets I had to pallet jack it to the end of trlr for forklift to unload. Payed 1.75 hrs #$15/hr. Had one load of tires that went to 2 places. First one had 225 tires and said I could pay them to lump it, or I could. The rest of the load didn't deliver until the morning so I lumped it. Paid 1.25hrs@$25. You get $25 for tires and $15 for everything else.

No problem on the questions, if you don't ask then you may regret it when you go somewhere. USA is a good company and if they stick with the attitude of making changes for the better like they've been doing lately they will be even better.

    Soulsurvivor,

I don't mean to offend you but why USA Truck with your 20 years of experience?

USA Truck is a large OTR company that constantly advertises for drivers. In my book, that is not a good thing. There are many reasons for the advertising campaigns. Sadly, most of those reasons are not good for the driver. You backed my theory up with your Conway comments. Conway is always advertising.

I will say that I have never worked for them. In fact, I have never driven OTR. I seem to have a huge problem with donating my time to a company. Drive 1000 miles, only get paid for 950. Sit at a customer for free for anytime. Breakdown on the side of the road and sit there for free. The list goes on and on.

With your experience, I think you could do so much better than USA Truck. I think that you can do better than OTR. Unless of course, OTR is what you want to do.

Good luck in your quest for a career.

    Drive safe
