You'd need to ask U2 about company team driver pay.
If I recall correctly - its 33cpm to start after training, with regular payraises thereafter. There's also a fuel bonus which isn't that hard to get that can raise that rate quite a bit. I wasn't having problems bringing home an average of $800 per week on the company side. That will vary with your miles, and can go up quite a bit on good weeks.one37 and Dennis the Menace Thank this. -
extra .05 to take on a lightweight truck. and an additional .05 when you are running that truck in the North East... so now, depending on your fuel milage and where you are, you could be making .47/mile on some trips (if you max out the potential fuel bonus) I believe this goes into effect as of yesterday.
So a brand new company driver can make more than I do just by signing up for a coffin sleeper with no passenger seat and no APU.
BTW I havent seen the fine print... so most of this is what I was told. -
On the lightweight trucks, it's 5CPM extra if you're a 48 state driver, 10CPM extra if your a NE Regional driver. If you're a 48 state driver that just so happens to get a load to the NE, it's still only 5CPM. Or that's at least how I read the flyer.one37 Thanks this.

So let me see, with these light weight trucks I would guess that they would be expecting you to haul heavy most of the time. And also not having an APU, would that be making the fuel bonus a little harder to acheive (plus the heavy loads)?
Do you think these trucks might have to wait a little longer for a dispatch because the comapny will be looking for that well-paid-heavy-load that most other companies can not haul, or is this dedicated fleet for a particular customer?
Just curious....one37 Thanks this. -
Outside of some fine-tuning for team loads, we're dispatched out of the same freight pool. In some areas its easier to get a load with a light-weight because there will be more freight simply because of the ability to pull the heavy loads, and the regional deals.one37 and GoneButNotForgotten Thank this.

Was set to go to the Prime school on April 27 but 2 weeks before that date the local college that has a cdl program informed me that I was accepted through a grant program.I will test out this Fri the 22nd. If I go to Prime with my cdl in hand will I have to do 50,000 or 60,000 with a trainer? Also having got my cdl through another school, am I still subject to the 3500.00 if I leave before a year is up? From all that I have read I don't see that happening least not on my part. I know they try to team you up with a trainer that is from the same part of the country, are there many trainers from the Pac NW ? I am in so. Or.

60,000 miles - it does go quickly. Since you got your CDL elsewhere, there is no tuition payment to Prime. And yeah, we do have trainers who take hometime in the Pacific Northwest.dieseldust Thanks this.

I live in WA state and while at the terminal last week met several trainers from the Pac NW. I had the same concern for freight, I have been advised it is not an issue communicate with your fleet manager and they will get you a load in and out as close to home as they can. A HUGE plus for me and hometime is I am going to Lease with Prime/Success Leasing so I can control my truck on hometime being able to bobtail from a close secure yard. This company so far has been awesome I am very impressed.dieseldust Thanks this.

I volunteered for a lightwieght, after the "getting used to it" period, i really like them. i have no problems getting loads, and yes i do get the occasional 48-49k+ loads, but for the most part i haul the standard anyone else would. there are some l/w trucks that are used for dedicated, out of reed city michigan is one that i know of for sure because they average 48k loads (had to cover a couple of them), but myself i run 48 and canada.one37 Thanks this.
