For anyone still interested, Central trans isn't all that bad. They aren't perfect, but they aren't the worst either. A lot of it depends on your TM. I run peddle for North central Wiscnsin, and while we've had bumps, it's nothing out of the ordinary for any other company.
Pay could be better, but the schedule I have is gravy. Insurance isn't great, but in today's market, you should be shopping around for everything, including health insruance. That way, if you change jobs, you continute coverageI have better coverage and it costs me 1/4 of what it would through work.
Not all the trucks are auto. Several of the newer ones are, but some are rocking a 10 speed. Mine is one of them.
Don't come into this expecting all sunshine and roses, but they aren't terrible. My paychecks keep cashing, my TM is awesome, and any time the truck breaks down, and I have to wait, I'm paid.
As for the breakdowns, they dont happen often, but in colder months, you should be prepared in case, just like with any other company. Things happen, and winter is hard on the trucks. Those little thermal blankets and the heaters you can plug into the cig lighter go a long ways.
Is central transport good for a newbie?
