Someone finaly figured out how to take the bite out of your bark. Now you are just a harmless hound making a lot of noise.

I was thinking that very thing. Especially when I had to call dispatch to Tcall my 800mi run. But on the bright side of things, I got a 180mi repower run out of the deal when I finally got the truck back because there were no empty trailers on th KC yard that didn't have a red tag on it.

I'd like to meet up with you if your still here.

I called Crete this Friday, and told them I needed a load to either Columbus, Indianapolis, or possibly Knoxville that I could T-call. When Ops asked "Why?" I told them I was resigning.
After some intense back and forth discussion, they told me that I couldn't resign without approval of my terminal manager - and he wasn't available Friday.
So... after a conversation with him Monday (during which the topic of "Why are you leaving, and what can we do to possibly convince you to stay?" never came up, I got a load from Cincinnati and T-called it in Columbus Monday night. They originally wanted me to deliver it in Buffalo Wednesday, then they'd see about getting me something back this way, but I told them I had cleaned the truck out, and was only going to drive it as far as the nearest terminal.
15-1/2 years, and - for better or worse - it's over.
I'll miss the road, I'll miss the travel, I'll miss going to places that I'd probably not have seen otherwise.
I'll enjoy seeing my family on a daily basis, eating home-cooked meals, sleeping in my own bed every night with my lovely wife, and doing all the other things that normal (read: 9 to 5) people do.
To all my fellow Crete, Shaffer, and Hunt drivers, I wish you all the best, and hope that someday the company regains its place as the premier trucking company in the United States. As for me, it's time to hang up the CDL, and begin a new career assembling Toyota automobiles.
With that, I bid you all a heartfelt "Goodbye, and Good Luck!"

Good Luck with your new endeavor. Keep in touch here anyway.

Typical of those arrogant #####. Who do they think they are? You can resign any #### you please, this is America, not China. I had heard they pulled that kind of crap when you try to leave, so I didn't tell 'em spit til I was in Marietta. Then I told 'em. They tried one last screw job. I cleaned out my truck. Wiped down the dash, swept the floor, etc. Loaded my car, grabbed a shower and went to the shop to check out. They told me sweeping the floor was not good enough, that I had to wipe it down. HAHA. Yeah, hold your breath. They sent me a bill for $80 a month later for cleaning the truck. I wiped me butt with it.

I have friends in San Antonio who work at the Toyota truck plant and like it. But don't be surprised if after six months of factory work the OTR Bug bites. Hope you can fight that urge. Best Wishes and enjoy your hometime.
