Please tell me you did not choose Toro...right? Bad, bad bad! Call a trucking company and ask of they hire out of that school where I wasted my time! Look at their google reviews!

Just went through a school in San Jose...and what a freakin joke. Your school should depend on what you want and need to accomplish. The $1200-$2k schools are just gonna be CDL mills with no experience more than getting your license (which is all I needed). You in no way will get enough experience to go work for any legit trucking company. To get any actual qualifications, you are looking at the $4k to $5 k range.
Also, if time is on your side, a lot of community colleges have CDL driving programs, or you can try a Center for Employment Training program.
Good Luck! -
There are various kinds of "schools" out there. Everything from a 3 day crash course to a 10 week complete school. It depends on you and just how much training you think you need and how fast you pick it up. There are schools that operate out of a vacant lot (where they park their equipment) and then train you for skills in an empty parking lot. And schools with 5 acres of paved lots and nice classrooms. These charge more, obviously. Take a tour of any school facilities BEFORE you sign up.
