The detention pay is for detaining the company's truck and keeping it from generating revenue. The drivers get a flat rate from the company, that should be agreed upon at the time of hire, for being detained and keeping him/her from generating income.
It ain't right but it is what it is.

hello
i work for swift and they pay me for 43h detention only $100 , do i sue them or not , how much swift have to pay per hour ? Thanks -
One thing you omitted. The customer has two hours AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME to get you unloaded. If your appointment time is 0900 and you get there and even get a door at 0730 and they get done with you at 1100, you're not getting $%#. Only if you have an open window for delivery/pick up do you get on detention when you arrive.

You're right of course. I'm old...does it count if I thought it was clear that that was what I meant? Thanks for clarifying.
