#5 broke on mine the exact same way. did you by chance use clevite parts? i redid my entire motor and also a new head and spacer plate. did you get any answers yet on the initial issue that caused the problem?

also Mr. Haney I'm possibly going to need some new jumpers at some point.
-
Chip I went with IPD parts for my rebuild, they look like quality parts all brand new no reman stuff... but 8k miles into it lost a piston cooler and trashed number 5.. so I had it pulled apart and ask them mechanic to replace all six coolers and repair #5 with IPD.. looks like they put something other than what I asked for..resulting in broken flange, I'm thinking it sat higher and had more crush than the others....
-
well i had mine towed to the shop this morning. ill see what they say. im thinking im just going to redo the entire thing. we redid my number 5 hole the first time after 5000 miles then we got 1800 miles the second time. i hope it all goes well.

jumpers???
Do you mean fuel temp and boost wiring harnesses to fool the ECM? -
Sounds pretty similar to mine, I got a little over 8 then 3k... keep me posted would like to hear what was the cause...did you go with the same parts the second time around?? What kind of parts you going with now?? Good luck...
-
Mr. Haney how much would the boost wire and fuel wire would help on my 3406E??? I have a PDI manifold and turbo..... thanks...
-
Sounds like you need to check the deck did they cut the counter bores correct shims installed?
-
yes i went with clevite both times. they checked my counterbore both times and still went bad. dunno about the shims. Mr. Haney yeah im thinking fuel and boost jumpers. what did they find was the root problem with yours brenes-built?
-
They couldn't give me an answer of why it happened...and Chop everything checked out fine they didn't need to cut or shim...
