The Northeast states required it, don't know if they still do.

I'm sure the trailer manufacturer can give you the strait dope. Ask them.

I don't know of any federal reg that says you must have it. In my State it is not a requirement either. As for the others, I can't help you with it. One of those truck stop lawyers years ago told me it was a law but could never show me or tell me where it was located. :biggrin_2559:

I guess my idea of making them show you the law as they write you a few tickets for being a smart azzhat is starting to sound better:biggrin_2559:

If i am not mistaken(and I usually am)it started with Ma and NY--and had to do with different rates on the trunpike for 53 Trailers--Mass originally required you to register every 53 you had that you intended to run in Mass(maybe just on pike)--while the NY Truway--used to give you 2 seperate toll tickets for a 53--but I think they have changed that now also--
And for what it is worth--I NEVER put 53 on mine--or anything else for that matter

I believe you may actually be right... shocking, I know :biggrin_25522:

Once I read this it sounded very familiar... I think that's why I got yelled at on the Thruway because I was supposed to pay more for the 53'.

    Well you may be shocked--but I am amazed--LMAO--but don't worry--even if I am right--I'm sure I won't make a habit of it!:biggrin_25523:
