I learned my lesson with ipd parts put two c15's together with them and now have them both apart. on one of them the face of the top ring came off about 1 inch long and their rod brg in one section came apart down to the copper. I thought their products were good at first but have learned my lesson to stick with genuine parts.

That's not what I wanted to hear....LOL... How many miles were on those kits, I've talked to a friend of my dads and he's used these kits in a couple trucks and they're still running.. The place where I bought them from rebuild trucks with them and I called around and was told other than Cat that's its IPD..but everyone is different.. I just hope it last at least 1yr...

If the block is free of counter bore cracks, divots, and was checked for low spots 360 deg around the deck then its good to go.Rebuilder should of printed a work sheet on this rebuild. If they did not pull all liners out then rebuilder will have to check liner protrusion on liners still in the block.Cat at one point had a liner flange problem that resulted in replacing all liner packs I have not seen this happen in years. Cat- IPD SHOULD give you a dimension of the liner, deck plate. If all of the above is correct then I would inspect the IPD liner(possible liner flange is to tall compared to the other) flange and the head gasket area. Was there a recall notice from IPD on bad flanges? Was all of the gaskets and grommets in correct place?Did they forget to install base gasket or head gasket or roll a liner oring this is what a master mechanic will be looking for IMO.

I appreciate all the info...I'm having peterbilt in El Paso put it back together with the IPD parts, I talked to the mechanic and he said he's going to check everything out and if he sees something he doesn't like or different than with OEM he would call... so if all sits right and it bust then I know IPD is not good...

Well I was at the shop last evening and the mechanic said the deck was good and the protrusion was within one one thousands....the head torque down to spec, fired it up and sounded really good couldn't get it out due to a leaking fitting..today it gets road tested and back to work...

Been nice to see a picture of the broken liner flange! Sounds like you decided to leave the other liners in place. So what caused the liner to fail mechanic say?
-
The mechanic working on my truck said he thinks it was a protrusion problem....the others say it got to hot, but no signs of heat...its beyond me...I'll try and upload a picture of the liner....

If liner protrusion was to high on that cylinder and the deck was flat then my guess you had a liner out of spec( but not likely from being to high) this would leave the other five liner packs with a question mark.If the liner got hot you would see scoring marks on the liner.Im not buying what the mechanic said that it got to hot.Possible the old head gasket was out of spec(not likely) or something.Yeah take a close shot of the liner with the flower on your camera. The only picture I had of a liner so take one a pic real close next to the flange.
