any 19 dollar truckstop firestik will be better than that #### the cascadias call a cb antenna. save them though, or you will be billed for them if you return the truck without all the equipment it was assigned with.
jimfletcher7 and CondoCruiser Thank this. -
jim.just get a single Francis antenna and a 18' GOOD coax,[Wilson is good] cable, get your radio peaked and tuned, add Turner or Astetic noise canceling mike and you will be good to go.

Hey CadillacDude ~ on the subject of antennas; just wanted to thank you for the advice you gave me when we were unloading in Miami. I went with the K40 loaded antenna and sure can tell a big difference. Now, if they will hurry up and get the truck back up and running I can use it!Last edited: Nov 18, 2011

even though its been like 5 months, i am glad to have helped. i just now saw this thread LOL

I think this is good advice. I never had luck with stock coax and antennas. Even on new equipment.

18 foot of coax on CB is not right anyway ....
-
Whats the optimal length of coax, then?
-
I would go with 9'. Reason, 18' gets coiled up and can sort of set of a feild around it and cancell out the transmite.
-
Coax long enough to go from the radio to the antenna.
If the VSWR changes with the change in length of coax then there is a problem with the installation.
