Has anyone watched that show? If a hundred thousand loads
are hauled over the Ice Road, what companies are
hauling all that stuff to Yellowknife, NT

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

it is hard to say maybe the drivers on the show haul it to yellowknife to stage it for the ice road.
-
It's a reality show, the majority of it is staged, or events are played up to be more than what they are.
-
YEP..I wanted them to get into more detail of the job itself and all the other aspects of it but mainly it's competition between truckers which got boring in a hurry.
-
Yea, that show has REALLY disappointed me. It makes some of them look like idiots, without shirts on, setting the cruise and walking back in the bunk for a drink, and on and on. They could change the name of the show to: Northern Hillbilly Truckers, IMHO. I watched it twice and gave up on it after that.
-
I agree with you there. And what about Hugh? What an Ice Hole he is....
-
At below -20 degrees, it probably is pretty difficult to dress up
a reality show. Long time in the truck where it's warm. Short time outside in the cold.
One must remember those drivers are not running over
20 mph or whatever when on the ice. Setting the cruise and getting a cup of coffee is not like
being on an expressway. I think running 360 miles at those speeds would
drive most truckers nuts. Different? Yes. Boring? I'm not sure.
-
No its not staged but they film hundreds of hours of film.
Then only show select few. -
I would definitely like to try it once to see what its really like.
-
hell no. i have done some very stupid things in my life...but driving a 40 ton vehicle on 2 1/2 feet of ice is insane. you boys can have all the fun.
