My advice is to try and do some things to gove the place some of its character back. Truck stops are becoming more cookie cutter and boring and not geared towards the driver more and more every year. The guns and the bikes and the old school feel are what a lot of drivers loved about the place.Think a little outside of the box and give drivers a reason to not think its just going to be another cookie cutter experience. You have one thing going for you in the fact that you have a real actual restuarant still there but just try and keep it interesting to the drivers and they will keep coming or start coming back. I'm basicly just saying, just dont get caught up in the cookie cutter cash grab formula that is going on these days. i know it is a business but you can step outside the box a little bit from the current normal standards and still make a nice business. Word gets around with drivers quick on good or bad stops and if you can seperate yourself from the pack a little bit drivers will talk.

Bring back the poached eggs and corned beef hash with the home made jam -
The Alligator joined the Circus... I'm not kidding. A local businessman owns a carnival and has an old appearing wagon with bars on it, with the alligator in it. So the good news is people are still getting to enjoy the "gator", just not at whites anymore. We have just recently started adding cases with old tin toys in the restaurant. My father collects Pedal cars, tin toys, old gas pumps etc., like you will see at lee hi. Now that the remodel is mostly done, we are starting to add those such things to try to add character to the place. We do understand that when people come to Whites they expect to atleast have something to look at. I agree, everyone loves a place with personality! Poaced eggs and corned beef hash, now that sounds like a good country breakfast, makes me hungry. I'll pass along the suggestion to our restaurant manager, see what we can do. thanks again. Corey W. Just wanted to jump in and say--I am a LONG TIME loyal Whites customer--Although it has been hard in recent history--SO I just wanted to say THANX to Corey for trying--I hope y'all can make it work--I know all the difficulties faced trying to run a REAL full-service T/S nowadays!! and as soon as I'm healthy and running again I'll be back--but I am kinda set in my ways LOL!
Thanks for trying--best of luck!

The only good thing I can say about the new and "improved" White's, is the addition of "Perky Berky's". Great, friendly staff, good sandwiches, though pricey, and the atmosphere is good.

I was in the new place a few days ago and feel like I have something to add. Heard the staff talking about changing to a Petro in July. Talk about your cookie cutter 'Travel Center' so much for not selling out to a chain. Guess the local boy cut his own throat with all those "improvements". What a shame.

Yes its true, Whites will be branded Petro. However, the place has not, and will not be sold to Petro. It will still be independently run and operated. I would like to reassure you that there will be nothing "cookie cutter" about it. The canopies will be painted, a Petro sign put up, and the restaurant will become an Iron skillet. Other than that no additional changes will be made. We will do everything possible to keep our unique and individual appeal. Thanks.

Yes, but not quite a mile... maybe 1/2. I really like that place. Great food.
