I haven't seen the show you're referring to, but I lived in Yellowknife for three years. NTCL (Northern Transportation Company Limited), RTL (Robinson Transport Limited) and Grimshaw Trucking are, or were, the biggest haulers to Yellowknife.
Ah ... no. The requirement to get the thousands of loads (basically a year's supply of fuel, parts, equipment, etc.) up the ice road within a 3-4 month time frame is very much the real deal.
It's not so bad ... just drive with one hand on the door handle.
I haven't done that ice road in a truck (I have done part of it by car), but I've done plenty of the same type of driving in the oilfield ... only fell through once.![]()
