Anyone know about these guys! They are very friendly on the phone, just curious if anyone works for them or knows about them. Seems to be the only Houston based company that stays within tx/region where I'd like to be.
Any info would be great

I've worked for them for about 1.5 months. Not a bad gig. I run a little local and mix in regional and long distance hauls. I would say I usually stay around Houston and Dallas and then can go towards Denver/Phoenix or down toward Florida. I might throw in a midwest run here and there as well. No extreme north U.S.

Are you an O/O or doing the lease purchase from them? What is the freight like, being how much are you actually touching freight? How often they get ya to the house?
-
I'm on lease purchase, but the freight and everything else is exactly the same from talking to some of the o/o guys. I do both van and flat, so you are only touching flat when straping down and only touching van when there is tailgating to the back for some of the multiple stop loads. They pay me to tailgate so its easy money, but i've only had to do it once since I've been here. I don't absolutely need to be home that often, but I live in Houston and get home about once every 1-2 weeks. They told me when I first started to let them know when I wanted to get back into town, and each time I ask it happens.

Not to get to personal on your $, but what type of cpm are you seeing after their % is out? Or what are you grossing. I have all the paperwork that tells me my expenses but hesitant to do it until I found out what I can gross. The lady I spoke with told me count on $1.30 a mile AFTER their cut is taken out. If that is true then I've ran the #'s and it seems like a "fair" deal.
I'm actually on my way to MD to pick up my flatbed w/ my original owner and try to see how my back does, but If I can't flatbed they will be my first call when I get back to Houston. She told me I could run nothing but vans if I wanted. The flatbed loads that your doing, how much of it is tarp?? I would be willing to do both if I don't have to throw rags, thats why I'm trying to stick it out here and get a little cash in the bank before I consider any type of purchse.
Thanks for the info, its really helping me decide on these guys! -
Do these folks have a terminal or office in San Antonio? I've seen their trucks here, seemed like they had a San Antonio logo.

I would say that's pretty spot on. On occassion I will get $1.05 per mile but then others I will get $1.75 after they take off their percentage. It seems to balance out nicely in the end when I get the money. If $1.30 works for your truck payment and home expenses, then I would say you would be in a good spot. It works for me. Flatbed here is pretty easy....mostly just straps. I have yet to do a tarp load, but i'm sure that will change down the road in a couple months. Most everyone I know here who does flatbed started out in van for about 5 months before jumping into all the equipment. There are a couple that have had their equipment for years is the only reason they didnt have to save up for the equipment.

I'm going to call my dispatcher this morning to see if you are right. From what I remember, there is another terminal around TX somewhere but I can't remember where. -
Just thought I saw that... I'm looking towards a weekend relief job to supplement my income, and work around my primary gig.

Slick, thanks for all the info. If things fall through with my current owner then that is my first app. I just wanted to make sure the mileage rate she gave me meshes with truth, or at least close to it! $1.30 a mile would fit me just fine as all my expenses would be the truck/job. No morgage or wife/kids at home, thats the only reason I'm considering a lease, + them being local and based in Houston is a HUGE +.
I'm going to pm you my # and if you feel like chatting on the phone a bit bout these guys that would be awesome!
Thanks again!

I know these guys run 24/7 so I'm sure they have work over the weekends. You should give the office a call and talk with them if you are interested.
Let me know if you need me to get the San Antonio terminal's contact #
