I just spoke with recruiter yesterday just for info. I have my CDL but no exp.,was told 3 day orientation (Harrisburg,PA) 240 hrs with mentor (4-6 wks) 450.00 wk gross when out with mentor. And when and if you upgrade she said I could go solo NE regional (.35 cpm) trips under 299 mi. = .6cpm
Lay over - Ithink she sais 50.00 every 24hrs
Detention- 16 hrly after 2hrs
I do see alot of Swift's equipment in my area (Phila,PA)
Is this recruiter just blowing smoke? She said they need NE regional drivers.
I was under the impression that all students need to do 6 months OTR before you get regional.
I did post something similiar tothis on another thread .....Sorryfor double post.
Thanks for any information![]()
Is this Info Correct !!

Just got off my mentors truck last week. Everything sounds right, except the regional and maybe the regional pay...I heard 6 months also. But most companies can't/won't hire you if you don't have more than 6 months OTR. Some won't even look at you with less than 2 years OTR. If you have the availability of going OTR for 6 months+ then don't sweat it and just do what you need to. If you have to have regional, get it in writing. But it's still not a guarantee! Oh, and you have to pass the Swift road test!!! I was in class in Millington, TN with other CDL holders that didn't!!!!

.35 cpm? Yes... a lot of smoke. Training is more like 4-6 weeks. Not 2-4 weeks. Will take you about 5 years to get. 35 cpm.
-
4-6 is for students from Swift Driving Academy. He may only have to do 2-4, but he should expect to maybe do 4-6 depending upon his proficiency at the wheel.

Really? So many want regional you think they'd make you take a paycut! LOL. I want to run the lower 48!!! But I have been fooled by "conventional" thinking before....
-
Regional could mean alot of short hauls under 300 miles, putting you on the sliding scale and "averaging .35/mile". Good news, better pay for miles run and hometime. Bad news: more dock and city time, hurting your miles per day/week. If you can run at night, you can mitigate some of the traffic issues and keep your pay up.
You can do a google search for Swifts Sliding payscale. -
Training will be 240 hrs, which could be 4-6 weeks, for ALL inexperienced drivers regardless of what trucking school they attended. The only way to get less training is if you come in with some minimum experience. I don't know much about regional fleets, but I doubt they are going to pay a rookie fresh off the trainers truck .35 no matter how bad they are hurting for drivers.
And it don't take 5 years to get to .35 cpm.Mr.V Thanks this. -
Sorry....I was told 4- 6 wks with trainer. .25 cpm OTR and I'm pretty sure she said .35 cpm. I'll call her and ask again. I do remember asking if I would have to do 6 mon OTR first and was told I would be able to get right on
, no waiting list ? Nope we need drivers for NE.
The only company I know of that lets you do regional right off the bat is SNI. -
dixiedeadlight Thanks this.
